In a classic just asking the question column, WorldNetDaily pundit Erik Rush argues today that the Obama administration may have been behind the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 over Ukraine, suggesting that the White House worked with the Ukrainian government in order to blame Russian-backed militia groups for the crash. This shouldn’t come as a surprise, as Rush also claimed that President Obama was behind the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.
I understand that some folks don’t think like I do. Some in fact disagree vehemently with virtually everything I think, say, or write, frequently calling me a “communist”…which says more about them that it ever could about me. Such is the nature of free speech. As I’ve often written, free speech can be- and very often is- offensive and disturbing speech. That said, I do think there’s a responsibility incumbent upon ALL of us who toss ideas into the public dialogue to adhere to the facts. Despite what some of y’all might think, the symptoms of Obama Derangement Syndrome include the willingness to pull “facts” out of one’s backside and the ability to unjustifiably accuse The Black Guy in the White House © of all manner of heinous acts.
The latest example of the Far Right’s abject, rabid, practically foaming-at-the-mouth hatred of The Black Guy in the White House © is Erik Rush accusing the Obama Administration of being behind the shooting down of MH17. Man, just when I’d begun to think the Rabid Right has finally scraped the bottom of the barrel, I discover yet again that this barrel has no bottom. There seems to be no depth to which those who hate the President with every fiber of their being won’t sink. Facts don’t matter, reality is fungible, and truth is useful only insofar as it can be twisted to fit their preferred narrative. It’s almost as if the ninnies compete to see who can conjure up the most ridiculous, far-fetched, and implausible accusation they can hang on The Black Guy in the White House ©. Erik Rush is merely the latest and most ridiculous example of the Rabid Right’s lack of simple human decency. What makes Rush’s just-asking-the-question “accusation” even more absurd is that Rush is African-American.
Given the geopolitical climate and the duplicity of the Obama administration, we may never know the whole truth, but the fact is that Washington and Kiev would have had quite a bit to gain politically in the intentional downing of this jet and the implication of pro-Russian militias…. [I]t would be far easier for the West to justify an escalation of the diplomatic and economic offensive against Russia. It would also not be the first time Ukrainian forces had employed “false flag” attacks to secure their political objectives, as they did during the street-fighting phase of their civil war and in the intimidation of Ukrainian Jews.
Oh, yes - I realize that this will be viewed by many as another anti-Obama far-right conspiracy theory, but I believe that it is at least as viable a proposition as the administration’s narrative.
“[A]nother anti-Obama far-right conspiracy theory?” Gee, whatever would give you THAT idea? Perhaps the lack of any credible (i.e.- not made up out of whole cloth) evidence linking this Adminstration- and with it the President- to the downing of MH117? Or the willingness to spin a story that places the President in the worst possible light in an attempt manufacture outrage among the Fox News Channel generation?
No President in modern times has had to endure the calumny and total commitment to his demise that Barack Obama has faced from the Rabid Right, which hates him with an irrationality that defies any attempt at understanding. How can one fight a foe that plays dirty from the get-go? Truth is, you can’t, and while part of me would love to see the President put the ninnies in their place, I recognize that doing so would grant them a degree of credibility and validation they don’t deserve.
Almost as bad as the baseless accusations against the President is the unqualified and unconditional love shown to Russia and Vladimir Putin. Rush and his ilk claim to revere freedom and democracy…yet they’re willing to give Putin the free pass they wouldn’t dream of providing Barack Obama. They admire Putin’s strong hand and his iron rule, all while claiming that “King Obama” is a despot who would rule by fiat and rob all good, God-fearing ‘Mericans of their Divinely-dispensed liberty and freedom.
It seems there’s no entry for “hypocrisy” in the dictionary the Rabid Right’s working from….
In a free society that guarantees freedom of expression, Erik Rush can accuse the President of whatever he chooses- a freedom he WOULDN’T enjoy in Vladimir Putin’s Russia. I can’t begin to untangle the twisted logic that is Rush’s playbook- nor do I want to- but the hypocrisy inherent in his accusation is impossible to miss. The evidence to support his specious accusations are conspicuous by their absence.
Then again, when you hate The Black Guy in the White House with every ounce of strength and every fiber of your being, who needs facts or evidence? When you’re already favorably disposed toward assuming the absolute worst of the President, why wouldn’t you advance any narrative that paints him as the despicable tyrant you believe him to be.
Of course, the fact that Vladimir Putin really IS a tyrant- and that the Far Right LOVES him- is completely beside the point. Barack Obama’s the REAL tyrant…an if it’s within reach, we must impeach.
And Erik Rush needs to get back on his Thorazine….
