Maybe this guy should buy a lottery ticket

NYDN - Maarten de Jonge has escaped certain death. Twice. If the Dutch cyclist boarded either of Malaysia Airlines’ doomed flights, MH17 and MH370, he could likely be at the bottom of the Indian Ocean or shot out of the sky over eastern Ukraine. “What has happened is terrible, so many victims. That’s a horrible thing,” de Jonge said in a statement translated to English on his website. The 29-year-old was scheduled to be on both flights, but he got lucky by changing his flights at the last minute in both instances. On Thursday, de Jonge changed his ticket for a cheaper flight scheduled for Sunday, according to RTV Oost, a Dutch TV station. When he heard what happened to MH17, de Jonge tweeted a link to news coverage of the crash and said: “Had I left today…” The brush with death has de Jonge shying away from further spotlight other than his cycling career because his story “is ultimately nothing compared to the misery” of the victims, he said.

If I’m Maarten de Jonge, I’m never leaving the house again. How can he? He’d be looking over both shoulders at the same time, watching out for whatever is going kill him. You can’t keep cheating death like that. It’s inconceivable. There’s people out there who eat a peanut and then their head explodes, but this guy was booked on two planes that dirt napped it’s passengers and he’s still out here kicking. It’s like when the roulette wheel hits red a couple times in a row, it’s due to hit black. Well this guy just doubled up his life savings twice in a row, time to pick it up and go home. Cash in those chips buddy. No need to be greedy. And do us all a favor and never get on that stupid bike again. Not because Final Destination shit is on the way, which it is, but if you cheat death twice, you owe society more than being a bike rider. I hope if he rides his bike he gets struck by 100 bolts of lightning. Maarten de Jonge just needs to retire and live the rest of his days in pure fear.

PS: Or maybe it’s the complete opposite and he’s unkillable. It’s one or the other. I immediately thought he was cheating death and it is imminent, but now I’m thinking he just won’t ever die. He can jump in front of a train tomorrow and it’ll all be good like Bruce Willis in Unbreakable. Either way I hate this guy. Stop cheating death. When you’re supposed to die, you’re supposed to die. So stop skipping town when it’s supposed to happen. Buck up and take it like a man.
