Charles C. Johnson, a blogger who runs GotNews and previously contributed to the Daily Caller, propagated false information on Twitter claiming that Michael Brown, the slain teenager from Ferguson, Missouri, was involved in a murder.
Johnson filed requests to see Michael Brown’s alleged juvenile crime records, and he came up empty. So, of course, he’s now going after the records of Brown’s family members.
Johnson is getting a taste of his own medicine and it doesn’t taste very good.
Shaun King posted a court document on Twitter which said Johnson had been convicted of child molestation, except it wasn’t the same Charles Johnson, so he deleted his tweets.
“I not only not have a juvenile record, I’ve never gotten in trouble ever,” Johnson told The Mirror in a phone conversation. “Nobody even gave me a strong talking to in school.”
The same can be said of Michael Brown, who Johnson has been trying to smear.
The Daily Caller reports, “Johnson warned King repeatedly on Twitter to stop calling him a child molester. “[I said] look dude you’ve gotta stop calling me a child molester,” explained Johnson. “So he doubled down and said I committed a felony in Mississippi..that I paid a reverend to lie. So he’s coming after me and it’s kind of hilarious. I warned him repeatedly.”
Johnson asserted on Twitter in August, “Confirmed earlier report that #MichaelBrown had juvenile arrest record involving second degree murder….working on getting report. #Ferguson.”
That lie garnered 505 retweets on Twitter and quite a few Conservative sites picked it up and presented it as fact. Shaun King deleted his Tweets about Johnson when he discovered it was the wrong man, however, Johnson did not delete or apologize for declaring Michael Brown to be a murderer.
So now he’s suing because his fee fees are hurt
