Today in Industrial Grade Stoopid: Andrea Tantaros

Fox News host Andrea Tantaros on Wednesday recommended a possible solution to the domestic violence scandals that have been recently plaguing the NFL: “a little more God.”…. Tantaros argued that the NFL was also “misguided in their focus” because Robert Griffin III had turned a shirt with the words “Know Jesus, Know Peace” inside out at a press conference this week. Some speculated that an NFL uniform inspector forced Griffin to turn the shirt inside out because the league has an exclusive contract with Nike. Others observed that the league had a rule against “personal messaging.”…. An NFL spokesperson said that it had been Griffin’s choice to wear the shirt inside out…. “I’m thinking, where are your priorities?” Tantaros opined on Wednesday. “I mean, the NFL could use a little more God, and a little less of this other stuff.”

I’ve written at some length previously about that “pretty little ball of hate,” Andrea Tantaros of Fox News Channel, who is to reasoned, rational discussion what ISIS and the Westboro Baptist Church are to loving, committed, and compassionate religious faith. How she continues to draw a salary for being distressingly intolerant and judgmental is something I can’t wrap my head around. That she seems incapable of considering (and understanding the validity of) points of view differing from her own probably accounts for her appeal to the Fox News demographic: angry, racist Whites who hate Liberals because…freedumb.

Her latest rant revolves around her belief that what the NFL really needs is “more God.” How turning a for-profit cartel into an Evangelical traveling road show for the American Taliban will benefit anyone is something that only she can explain…and poorly at that.

When one considers that Tantaros has blamed Barack Obama for lower marriage rates (“It’s cheaper to live in sin”) and for “failing to lead” in the Ray Rice case, one comes aware with the impression that she’d blame the President for the Lindbergh kidnapping if she could. Truly, there doesn’t seem to be anything negative that Tantaros can’t link to a President she despises with every fiber of her being.

Unfortunately, rationality, reason, and credibility aren’t to be found in Tantaros’ rhetorical tool box. I avoid exposing myself to her unmedicated lunacy whenever possible, but when I’ve had occasion to listen to her, I generally come away wondering how someone so stupid mean-spirited, and irrational can have a regular, well-paying gig on the country’s largest cable news channel. Then again, she’s just one of a stable of who wouldn’t recognize objective journalism if it showed up with a pair of kneepads and a tube of AstroGlide.

Yes, it’s not news, it’s Fox News…and Andrea Tantaros isn’t just a talking head, she’s an irrational rageaholic devoid of rationality or decency. And her employer is as much about objective journalism and balanced analysis as Ferguson, Missouri is a shining example of interracial harmony and co-existence.
