Today's nominee for Headline of the Year: Stupid and ninjas don't mix well

(a tip of the WWJD crown of thorns to David Flanders….)

Polygamist Ninja Women Sneak Into Utah Home To Abduct 15-Year-Old Girl, Fail Miserably

Police say two women dressed from head to toe as ninjas broke into a home in an effort to abduct a 15-year-old girl, Salt Lake City Fox affiliate KSTU reports. The attack happened in the generally placid Salt Lake City suburb of West Jordan, Utah, late Thursday night.

No one who’s frequented these parts for any appreciable length of time should be surprised that one of my fascinations is human stupidity. It’s the sort of thing that comes with a never-ending supply of iterations, like playing golf- you can play the same course every day and never hit the same shot twice. So it is with the intellectually challenged; just when you think you’ve run across every possible variation of stupid, self-destructive, and/or borderline behavior…BAM!!! Something new, unexpected, and altogether wonderfully brain-dead crosses the wire and opens up a whole new realm of possibilities.

This story has it all…and more. Ninjas? Samurai swords? A 15-year-old girl? A boyfriend? Utah? Polygamy? Stop me if you’ve heard this one before…but I know you haven’t, ‘cuz it’s hilarious. And original. How can a story that prominently features a samurai sword be anything but highly entertaining

There’s a back story, which just might be every bit as (or more) amusing than the denouement…but for now I’ll be happy sticking with the headline.

Happy Monday!!
