Remember, it's only curtailing liberty and personal freedom when Liberals do it

Dear Social Conservatives in Nebraska and Oklahoma,

We appreciate your input, and you are cordially invited to keep you knuckle dragging authoritarian stupidity within your own borders. It’s bad enough that you inflict your immoral ignorance upon your own citizens. To attempt to impose the same on a neighboring state is not only unconstitutional, it is an act worthy of a giant “shove it up your stupid asses” response.

Sincerely,

Rational Coloradans

P.S. Thanks for all the tourism dollars.

Not only do drug warriors think they can dictate to those under their jurisdiction, they evidently now believe they’re just righteous enough to force their views on everyone. In an astonishingly brash attempt by authoritarian Conservatives to impose their will wherever they deem it appropriate, Nebraska and Oklahoma are suing Colorado over the Keystone State’s legalization of marijuana. The suit, filed with the U.S. Supreme Court, argues that “the State of Colorado has created a dangerous gap in the federal drug control system.”

And they’re eating all the Doritos….

Ponder on that for a moment. Two states are suing another because they don’t like that state’s law. It’s an interesting, if unconstitutional strategy, but let’s go with it for a moment, shall we? Using the logic behind Nebraska and Oklahoma’s argument, Texas and Louisiana could sue Washington for passing a referendum that legalized same-sex marriage. They could argue that the Evergreen State’s vote sets a dangerous precedent that could well lead to the destruction of traditional marriage. It’s ridiculous, I know, but it makes every bit as much sense as Colorado being sued for legalizing marijuana. Social Conservatives and drug warriors in Nebraska and Oklahoma don’t have to like it…but they don’t have jurisdiction over Colorado, and I suspect this case will be laughed out of whatever courtroom it ends up in. Just another example of “fiscally conservative” Republicans wasting tax dollars on a quixotic quest to enforce their narrow morality anywhere they may choose.

To call the lawsuit ridiculous would hardly do it justice, but the people’s court that is Twitter has already spoken, and they’ve found Nebraska and Oklahoma to be absurd in the extreme. I’m sure the authoritarian drug warriors in Nebraska in Colorado think God is on their side, but perhaps they’re really just jealous that someone else- in this case, Colorado- is having all the fun. Authoritarians just HATE it when others are having a good time…and in this case raking in big bucks from pot tourism.

Memo to Nebraska and Oklahoma Conservative buzzkills: Sorry, but you don’t get to dictate the laws of other states. You don’t have to like them, but you don’t have a voice. You could put up a border fence, or you could let the adults deal with things from here on. Unless you enjoy exposing your hypocrisy for the world to see. Your call.
