Cartoons: Just another example of the homosexual agenda being shoved down our throats...wait, what??

(thanks to Theo Kaht)

The creators of the hit animated Nickelodeon show “The Legend of Korra” have confirmed that the show’s main heroine, Korra, and another female character named Asami, are in love with one another. Some parents have criticized the network for the decision, saying it was inappropriate to bring such a political and controversial subject onto a children’s TV program. In the final moments of the show’s season finale on Friday night, Korra and Asami “held hands, turned and gazed at each other lovingly while romantic music played, and walked off together into the bright light of the Spirit World,” reports the Daily Beast. Although there was nothing explicitly sexual about the scene, subsequent Tumblr posts by the show’s writers, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko make it clear that the two characters were intended to be gay.

And so America inexorably travels just a little bit further down the road to Sodom and Gomorrah….

WHAT ABOUT THE POOR, PRECIOUS CHILDREN???

Hey, here’s an idea: How about not teaching your children that being gay is bad? How about not teaching them to hate? Most of all, how about not teaching them that there’s only one acceptable kind of love, and that anything else is bad, immoral, or sinful? Wouldn’t that be something? Children growing up being taught not to judge others for whom and how they love?

Ah, who am I kidding? Of course parents are going to pass along their hatred and prejudice to their children…same as it’s ever been. Whether it’s racism or sexuality or politics, parents see it as their duty to pass their values- such as they are- along to their children. Children aren’t born hating those who are “different,” that’s learned behavior, so when you grow up believing that your lifestyle/sexualty/religion/politics make you a better and more worthy person, that’s what you’re likely to do as an adult.

Janet Boynes, former lesbian and founder of Janet Boynes Ministries, warns that the gay community is attempting to indoctrinate young children by “normalizing” homosexual relations via television shows.

“Let me say this in plain English: The gay community wants to indoctrinate an entire generation of American children with pro-homosexual propaganda and eliminate traditional values from American society. Their ultimate dream is to create a new America based on sexual promiscuity in which the values you and I cherish are long forgotten.”

She encourages Christian parents to “unite in our efforts and become the voice God would have us be.”

“When you know better, you do better,” she writes.

If by”[T]he values you and I cherish,” you mean hatred, discrimination, and intolerance…well, she might just have a point. However, if you call yourself a Christian and profess to revere the teachings of Jesus Christ, you’re twisting the Gospel to fit your prejudice. Is that REALLY what you want to teach your children- that hypocrisy in the service of your religious faith is no crime?

Whatever happened to the things that Jesus actually DID teach- love, kindness, acceptance, tolerance?

The appropriateness of the show’s final scene and subsequent declarations by the show’s writers aside, Christians who think homosexuality to be sinful only demonstrate how little they know of the Bible they claim to revere. In fact, if you want to talk about sin, how about judging others? That, if you know anything about the Bible at all, actually IS a sin. The Bible’s alleged proscription of homosexuality was inserted into Scripture by someone who felt it to be abhorrent and therefore should be considered sinful. It was passed down from God to NOBODY.

If memory serves, Jesus Christ never said a word in condemnation of homosexuality. He taught things like acceptance, tolerance, love, kindness…you know, the sorts of things that can actually make this world a better place. The belief in some sort of biblical prohibition is something that exists only in the minds of Christians who find the idea of same-sex love to be offensive and abhorrent. Christians who complain about a cartoon “promoting” homosexuality are making up stuff because it supports their personal prejudice. They have no basis for claiming that the Gospel clearly and without question opposes same-sex love…because that’s simply not the case.

Homophobia and discrimination aren’t Christian values…no matter how much you might think otherwise.
