Today on "Great Moments in Faux Controversies"

A new iPad commercial created by Apple uses the music of an anti-establishment song that appears to glorify burning the flag and rejecting Uncle Sam. The 60-second-spot for the new iPad Air 2, posted online earlier this month, features the song “Who Needs You” by The Orwells.

Whether it’s Breitbart, The Daily Caller, Fox Nation, or The Blaze- all Conservative “news” sites- you can bet that if a controversy can be generated, one will be. It doesn’t even really matter if the “controversy” is legitimate or not; anything that creates attention is good…because Conservative “journalists” HATE being ignored.

If there’s anything that keeps Conservatives scared and stupid, it’s the idea that someone, somewhere, has insulted America and all the good and wonderful things it stands for. In this case, it’s Oliver Darcy from The Blaze, who poses the question:

“DOES APPLE HATE AMERICA???”

Evidently, the concept of free speech is lost on Darcy…unless, of course, it’s reliably Conservative speech that glorifies America and never, EVER calls ANYTHING that America does or stands for into question. Because when you allow people to express anything less than complete and absolute fealty to the Conservative Mom, Baseball, and Apple Pie view of America…well, the terrorists win, don’tchaknow??

You can read the lyrics just as well as I can, but I see nothing wrong or anti-American in the lyrics. I happen to love the song, and the lyrics seem to be the expression of a writer questioning the direction his country is heading. That’s a little thing I like to call “freedom of speech,” which sometimes kinda aggravates Conservative patriots who feel that anything that can be interpreted as questioning America is anti-patriotic.

If this is the best faux controversy Darcy can come up with…well, perhaps he might to consider another line of work, knowhutimean??
