More great moments in Conservative "leadership"

When I listen to the news or read a newspaper, I find myself constantly agog at the stunning breadth and depth of stupidity, anger, and hyper-religious self-righteousness extant on the Far Right. Yet these are the people who believe that they- and they alone- are the rightful heirs to political power, that only they have the foresight and divine blessing to exercise political power.

It feels like bad kabuki sometimes: rampant ignorance, religious oppression, racism, hatred, and homophobia simultaneously vomited by those who believe that they are the Chosen Ones. The rest of us are merely misguided godless sinners wandering in the wilderness, desperately in need of the guiding hand of Jesus Christ (and His Republican Party).

The madness never seems to end.

Louie Gohmert: Bush would never have invaded Iraq if he knew Obama would come along and bungle it: By Gohmert’s definition, killing almost 5,000 American servicemen and women and more than 100,000 Iraqis was an unqualified success. Yes, America; there’s stupid…and then there’s Louie Gohmert stupid.

Arizona woman sentenced for running over her husband because he didn’t vote for Romney: Any REAL Christian American patriot understands that a vote for The Black Guy in the White House © was actually a vote for Sharia and The Homosexual Agenda ©.

GOP Calls For ‘Honoring’ Troops By Funding A War Congress Won’t Vote On: Nothing says “WE LOVE THE TROOPS!!” like forcing them to fight with substandard equipment and denying benefits after they leave the military.

Former Virginia lawmaker to marry teenager involved in sex scandal: Well, that’s certainly one way to silence the woman who could end your political career and possibly send you to prison.

‘We won!’ Watch Ted Cruz brag about defeating a homeless atheist man in court: Mama must be just bursting at the seams with pride. That Harvard edumication sure came it handy, didn’t it??

Alabama’s chief justice: The ‘pursuit of happiness’ means following the Bible: Nothing says “American Exceptionalism” like creating a (barely) functional theocracy…and no one puts the “fun” in “fundamental” like Judge Roy Moore.

Former Virginia Lawmaker Joe Morrissey Distributes Bizarre Photo With 19-Year-Old Girlfriend And Their Son: Memo to Republicans: If you believe in the sanctity of marriage, perhaps you should stop cheating on your spouses and fathering children with children one-third your age. Just a thought.

Louie Gohmert and other Texas congressmen to endorse Ted Cruz’s 2016 bid: Because authoritarian despots tend to stick together. Remember, it’s all about small government- government small enough to force your angry, hateful, homophobic agenda on those not “enlightened” enough to believe in your vindictive, mean-spirited God.

Bill Kristol slams death penalty repeal: Executions are an ‘important symbol’ of American justice: Exactly…and unless we’re allowed to stone adulteresses, how will we have ANY hope of protecting the sanctity of fourth marriages??

John McCain mocks Obama for calling climate change a threat as ISIS advances: How could global climate change possibly be real when it’s 112 degrees in Phoenix every day of summer?

Texas senate approves open carry of handguns: Natural selection evidently isn’t reducing the population of Texas rapidly enough. Besides, MOR GUNZ!!!! can only make good, God-fearing, Christian patriots safer. Except when they don’t.
