It’s Sunday, which means it’s time for another of my semi-regular features on the wonders of Christianity and those who (sort of, maybe, kinda) follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. Through this we see that some Christians are people just like you and me. They’re people who believe women are property, hide our homosexuality, deny the validity of science, advocate for the creation of a theocracy, protect child molesters in our midst, and wonder why we can’t forcibly introduce nonbelievers to the wonders of Jesus Christ. Yep, they’re just like you and me.
I have no problem granting people the right to believe as they choose; that’s their right in a free country, but that right doesn’t come bundled with the right to pass judgment, live hypocritically, and hold yourself above others. If memory serves, and I believe it does in this case, Jesus preached love, acceptance, tolerance, and inclusion. These days there’s far too much hatred, rejection, intolerance, and exclusion…all in the name of Jesus Christ. It’s no wonder I’m good without God.
