Better to be thought a fool than to be Curt Schilling on Twitter

It’s often been said (by me) that Twitter is where idiots and morons come together online to commune with one other in their natural habitat. It’s a gathering place with no rules and even fewer standards, so in 140 characters or less you can demonstrate to the world that you’re a truly miserable excuse for a human being…and be in good company. Former major League pitcher and current ESPN baseball analyst Curt Schilling is living proof of my theory. Though he was a talented and successful pitcher, his post-baseball life has been a series of missteps, business setbacks, and one social faux pas after another. Hid latest tour de farce is posting a meme on Twitter evidently making the point that Muslim extremism is a threat on par with Nazi Germany?

Yeah, I know; what could POSSIBLY go wrong when you invoke Godwin’s Law, right?? ESPN has pulled Schilling from the network’s coverage of the Little League World Series…and he’d be well-advised to spend the time off working to remove the metaphorical shoe from his mouth. Perhaps next time Schilling has a thought, he’ll remember to keep it to himself. I think everyone would be better off for it.
