Manhattan Beach, CA- I’m in SoCal this weekend with some friends for our (soon to be considered traditional) guy’s weekend. The Portland Timbers are in town to play the L.A. Galaxy tomorrow afternoon, so we’ve headed south for some R&R and- for my traveling companions, at least- the opportunity to consume mass quantities of beer and various distilled spirits. I’m surrounded by hangovers this morning, but since I rarely drink anymore I’m an innocent bystander. The idea of drinking that much no longer holds any appeal for me, so instead of dealing with a hangover, I’m enjoying the grogginess that comes with having slept like a baby. We’re sprawled out on the couch in the living room, drinking coffee, and watching Aston Villa losing to Chelsea. Good times….
Our apartment is right off the Manhattan Beach Strand, so I can walk around the corner and be greeted with the sound of the surf crashing on the beach and…overcast. WTF? We’re in SoCal…and there’s no sunshine? Who do I see for a refund??
