One who has a reputation as a liar shouldn't be calling the President a liar

THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD

(apologies to Keith Olbermann)

Eric Bolling

ERIC BOLLING: Does politicizing mean lie about it? Because that’s exactly what President Obama did right there. He just said “We need to compare terror, versus gun violence.” That’s not what this is about. This is — You want to do a comparison, President Obama, do terror against mass shootings. If you do the number of people killed in terror attacks, we know 3,000 happened in one day. And a mass shooting is what, five to seven, ballpark or so? And it happens what, every couple of weeks or so? There’s no question the terror outweighs the mass shooting. So, it’s unfair to say all gun violence. I mean, you want to point at gun violence, that’s — you can you compare gun violence to mass shootings, and say the gun violence includes cities like Chicago. Or cities like Baltimore where there are elevated number of murders and deaths at the other end of a gun, versus other cities. And find out what the reason that is the case.

If I had a dollar for every Proudly Closed-minded Gun Control Foe © who’s criticized President Obama for “politicizing” the tragic mass shooting at Umpqua Community College, I could retire comfortably to a country with no extradition treaty with the US. TERRORISM!!!- we must fear terrorism above all else…because 9/11, don’tchaknow? What Bolling has done is conflate a terrible event with no real bearing on what’s happening today to justify keeping the focus on terrorism instead of gun violence. Yes, more than 3000 Americans were murdered on 9/11, and that’s something that should never be forgotten, but when you compare the number of deaths vis-a-vis terrorism and gun violence, it’s clear the biggest danger by far to American citizens is gun violence. 9/11 was one horrible, awful event that Proudly Closed-minded Gun Control Foes © continue to use the skew the debate and direct it away from the day to day reality of gun violence. The President called on news organizations to report on the discrepancy and provide numbers to show the American Sheeple the truth. Bolling and his Proudly Closed-minded Gun Control Foes © fear that once people recognize the truth their argument will be seen for the invalid, self-interested propaganda it is.

The problem is that Proudly Closed-minded Gun Control Foes © like Bolling don’t want to traffic in the truth. Their narrative won’t allow for it. They’re so heavily invested in promoting the dishonest assessment that terrorism is still the bogeyman we must continue living in mortal fear of. Outside of 2001 and the death toll from 9/11, the death toll from gun violence has far outstripped the toll from terrorism. THAT is the truth.

As President Obama noted, the United States devotes “entire [government] agencies” to preventing terrorism but “we have a Congress that explicitly blocks us from even collecting data on how we could potentially reduce gun deaths.” On the October 2 edition of Fox News’ The Five, co-hosts Greg Gutfeld and Eric Bolling attacked the president for “politicizing” gun violence tragedies in the United States with Bolling falsely claiming that Obama “lied about” the threat of mass shooting[.]

I’d suggest that Bolling should be ashamed about his gross misrepresentation of the President’s statement, but that would presume he’s capable of feeling shame. The truth is that there’s nothing about what the President said that’s even slightly dishonest. The liar is Bolling, who accused the President of “politicizing” the mass shooting at Umpqua Community College. To Proudly Closed-minded Gun Control Foes ©, revisiting our gun control laws shouldn’t be discussed in the wake of a mass murder. No, better to wait until emotions have cooled (and people have forgotten and moved on). It’s always “too soon”…for Proudly Closed-minded Gun Control Foes © like Bolling, ANY time is “too soon.”

The President openly admitted to wanting to politicize gun violence…because what hasn’t happened up until now has demonstrated that ignoring the problem won’t make it disappear. He was very clear that it’s time to politicize the issue, and he plans on talking about it frequently until something is done. He’s understandably frustrated that not a calendar week has gone by during his Presidency without some sort of mass shooting taking place. How much do we have to endure before we stand up and scream “ENOUGH!!”? How many more innocents must die before Proudly Closed-minded Gun Control Foes © agree the time has come to revisit our gun laws? How long will it be before Proudly Closed-minded Gun Control Foes © like Bolling recognize that human life and our duty to protect public safety should have far more significance than their false, self-interested, and just plain dishonest interpretation of the 2nd Amendment?

All the President did is make it clear that he wasn’t about to continue to maintain the status quo, that he was going to continue to speak out on this issue regardless of what Proudly Closed-minded Gun Control Foes © may think. That he’s been called a liar by Bolling and other Proudly Closed-minded Gun Control Foes © should be taken as indication they’re scared. The President lied about nothing, the threat of gun violence is far worse today than that of terrorism.

That’s the truth, regardless of what propaganda Bolling and other preternaturally dishonest Proudly Closed-minded Gun Control Foes © may use to “support” their selective, moral indefensible interpretation of the 2nd Amendment.

Memo to Bolling: You may not like the truth, but your disdain doesn’t make that truth any less true. If you have a reputation as a liar, calling the President a liar will only serve to shine a spotlight on your utter lack of integrity and humanity.
