Silly me; what I took away from all those Sunday School classes I was subjected to as a child was that God was a benevolent and loving Deity, willing to forgive sins in the hope that we’d eventually get out shit together and live according to His teachings. The Almighty really was all about peaceful coexistence and making the world a better place.
