Our business is homophobia and hatred...and business is very, very good

This is the pattern of the sexual revolution’s mob, surrounding its prey, forcing its will on all who stand in the way. Yet this is nothing new. As Scripture says, “There’s nothing new under the sun.” Today’s sexual revolution is simply new fruit coming from the same vine - the vine of Sodom. In Genesis 19, we see how Sodom reacted to the men of God who came to Lot’s house: “Before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter; and they called out to Lot and said to him, ‘Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may have relations with them’” (19:4-5). Today, the sexual revolution of Sodom has pervaded every sphere of society, capturing both young and old. And anyone standing in the way will be surrounded by an angry mob demanding participation.

I often find myself wondering how it can be that some heterosexual Christians are so virulently opposed to gay rights. What is it about about the LGBT community that they perceive to pose such a threat to their tender sensibilities? How can adults engaging in consensual sexual activity represent any sort of threat to anyone’s moral/spiritual well-being? How can someone be so focused on an “issue” that almost certainly will have no discernible impact on their life…unless they choose to seek it out for themselves?

More succinctly, what is it that born-again heterosexual Christians fear? If one believes that we hate that which we most fear in ourselves (I do), I’d have to wonder if those who are so implacably and incontrovertibly anti-gay are living in fear of what they may have buried deep inside themselves? Could it be that they’re not as 110% straight as they’ve endeavored to convince themselves? If one has to work overtime to convince others of their undeniable commitment to heterosexuality, could it be that it’s not others they’re really trying to convince…but themselves?

In the case of Jason and David Bentham, two brothers and veteran culture warriors, inquiring as to what they’re afraid of is a valid question. For some reason, they haven’t yet figured out the fighting The Homosexual Agenda © while looking and acting various shades of homoerotic isn’t exactly a gateway to being taken seriously. Nor is using the Biblical story of Sodom and Gomorrah, whose words can be used to create oh, so much homoerotic humor to make their case that Teh Gayz mean to take over the world the Homosexual Agenda © will enslave good, God-fearing Christians.

As the men of Sodom surrounded the house, Lot offered them his daughters, which reveals how pathetic he had become as a father. Yet they refused his accommodation - and it got even nastier:

“So they pressed hard against Lot and came near to break the door” (19:9b).

The “vine” of Sodom in a nation forces participation against the will of the people. It refuses to be told, “No.”

Yessiree, because nothing says “total world domination” like a bunch of horny gay males looking to exercise their depraved carnal urges upon godly heterosexuals, right?

If you read through the Bentham brothers’ piece- something I don’t necessarily recommend- you might come to understand that “vine” is an undeniable euphemism for the throbbing member of a Gay Stormtrooper © seeking a victim. It also becomes clear the “prey in America” is their barely concealed metaphor for themselves…evidently the Benthams fear for their immortal soul (and their virtue…I’m guessing they’re saving it for Jesus) just that much. There’s apparently nothing more frightening to a couple of good, God-fearing, missionary-position-loving, virtuous Christian brothers than a good rape fantasy.

This is the pattern of the sexual revolution’s mob, surrounding its prey, forcing its will on all who stand in the way.

As the Bentham Brothers know, there’s nothing the leather-clad hordes would rather do than bend them over the arm of a couch and have their way with them.

Except that methinks the good Aryan brothers protesteth WAY too much to be taken seriously. I certainly have no problems with the arch-Conservative Christian views, as often odious as they may be. Their belief that their morality/theology/ideology allows them to deny others the same rights they take for granted is where the problems start.

All across Europe and now throughout America the vine has taken root and is surrounding its prey, and nothing short of a miracle will stop its deadly poison.

Seriously? Are the Benthams REALLY arguing that the LGBT community is so thoroughly evil, self-concerned, and out of control that they’d stop at NOTHING to MAKE AMERICA GAY AGAIN?

Or are they really just tired of being gay icons and terrified that they might just give in to the overwhelming temptation presented by the servants of The Homosexual Agenda ©…and that they may learn to like it?

If they could be bothered to step back from their reflexive fear of Teh Gayz and see them as people, things might be different. If they could see the LGBT community for what it is- people trying to live their lives as authentically and meaningfully as possible- they might come to see that they only thing they have to fear is what’s between their ears…or between their legs.

I don’t care if the Benthams think homosexuality is the worst thing since Josh Duggar was discovered to have a “zipper problem.” They’re certainly free to hold what beliefs and prejudices add meaning and purpose to their lives. What they don’t get to do is to work towards giving those beliefs and prejudices the force of law and declaring a minority class of people to be “less than.”

That sort of active arrogance and willingness to oppress and discriminate against those who think, believe, live, and/or love differently doesn’t make you a “principled, Bible-believing Christian.” Virulent hatred of that nature just means you’re an asshole…and rampant homophobia might just mean you’re anywhere from very insecure to extremely terrified about your own sexuality.

You might want to look into that, Cupcake.
