Many Americans, including this one, believe Barack Obama’s emotional attachment to the Muslim world has hurt the USA…. According to his half-sister, Barack Obama attended his half-brother’s wedding in the early 1990s. Malik Obama was a Muslim. The Factor has obtained pictures allegedly from that wedding, which we believe was held in Maryland. Details on the ceremony, the exact location, and whether the reports that Barack Obama was the best man are difficult to verify at this point. What we can tell you with certainty is that Barack Obama has deep emotional ties to Islam.
For reasons known only to themselves- camouflaged and buried deep within their lizard brains, there’s a segment of journalistic America dedicated to savaging The Black Guy in the White House © at every available opportunity. Cloaking themselves in thick layers of gravitas, sober talking heads like Bill O’Reilly expound sonorously and at some considerable length about the President’s clear and obvious lifelong commitment to Islam.
Except that this talking point is, to be frank, pure, unadulterated horseshit. O’Reilly’s “evidence” is a wedding The Black Guy in the White House © attended, supposedly in the early ’90s. First of all, how many of us would want to have something we may have done 20+ years ago to be used to illustrate beyond a shadow of a doubt the person we are today? This smear campaign, now almost a full decade old, has nothing to do with who this President is today, nor does it reflect or serve as proof of his current allegiance to Islam or Islamofascist ideology. It certainly doesn’t confirm his (alleged) lack of commitment to combating terrorism.
So what if Malik Obama was a Muslim? What, exactly, is that apropos of? If you proceed from the presumption that “Muslim = Terrorist,” which seems to be O’Reilly’s position, then character assassination and smear tactics probably seem like appropriately available tools in your rhetorical arsenal. Here’s the problem, though; Barack Obama isn’t a Muslim. As he’s stated numerous times, he’s a committed Christian…and that really should be enough for any decent, rational human being. Then again, I’m not certain I’d ever have cause to use “Bill O’Reilly,” “decent,” and “rational” in the same sentence.
What’s next? O’Reilly and other Right-wing smear artists decrying The Black Guy in the White House © for being a “closet Muslim?” How would these fine defenders of all that’s right and holy take being accused of being “closet homosexuals?” It’s every bit as offensive and requires every bit as much evidence to prove (read: none at all).
This is what you do when you can’t win on substance. When you have no ideas or the ones you do have aren’t popular and/or viable, what you have left is what O’Reilly and others of his ilk are employing: cheap shots, innuendo, character assassination, and whisper campaigns. I can only hope that karma will catch up with them…because they richly deserve to reap what they’ve sown.
I’m not bothered by the idea that someone may disagree with me. It’s a free country, right? One is allowed to hold such opinions and beliefs as they will. If you’re trying to persuade me of the rectitude of your beliefs, though, you’re not going to do it with cheap shots, character assassination, talking points, and an argument mired in horse crap. If you can’t live in the realm of facts and logic, if you can’t deal with things as they are, please do the rest of us a favor and stop proving and re-proving your astonishingly lazy faux intellectualism and blind partisanship.
Stupid and dishonest aren’t opinions or beliefs. They merely prove you care nothing for the truth, and, in the case of The Black Guy in the White House ©, that you’re the worst kind of racist- one who pretends to be a Very Serious Person ©.
