The UN will never be one of my favorites, but not for the reason Conservatives might think. My problem is with the overly-politicized, anti-Israel tone the runs through much of the UN's business. Even so, every now and then something worthy of consideration comes out of New York.
The United Nations Development Programme 2000 Human Development Report (now THERE'S a mouthful...) provides us with a progress report on the state of democracy worldwide. Whether or not the report will ever be anything but words on paper is problematical, but at least we have something to work with.
