Was it really necessary to pee in my coffee??

I have no problem reading Jack's website, and whatever coding errors you are ranting about obviously are only apparent to someone who is looking for them. The site looks good, loads up fast for me and as long as I can read Jack's posts, I'm happy. Weblogs are not about artistic merit or what's behind the scenes. They are about the words.

- Michele Catalano

I was really pretty excited about my redesign being finished. I'd been saving my pennies for months, and for my birthday last month, Susan gave me the rest of the money I needed to finally get it done. Then the day came, I announced the joyous event, and Daniel Medley decides to rain on the parade. Now, don't get me wrong; I never expected anyone to be as excited as I am, and I realize that there are technical issues that may or may not be able to be fully addressed. I am a writer, not a techie. I can accept constructive criticism, which one person was good enough to send to me via e-mail- and that is exactly my point.

I can understand criticism, constructive or otherwise. What I cannot understand is why someone would feel it necessary to express himself in such a negative, misogynistic, thoroughly nonconstructive manner- and in a public forum. Is it really necessary to attempt to build yourself up at the expense of another? Daniel, I think that some of your criticisms may have some validity. Frankly, though, given the manner and the venue in which you chose to deliver them, I see no reason to lend them credence.

Or are you simply trying to drum up traffic to your own site by creating and staging your own controversy?? I would have hoped that you could be bigger than that.

If anyone is here to grade TPRS on artistic or technical merit, you're missing the point. Michele is right- it's about the words, and in the end, that is all I really care about. Bells and whistles are no substiture for content. I know of weblogs that are the technical equivalent of the 8-track, and yet are entertaining, well-written, and relevant. Of course, I also know of more than a few weblogs that are state-o'-the-flippin'-art, but are merely so much sound and fury, signifying not much of anything. My goal is to strive for the best of both worlds. Perhaps I'll make it, perhaps not, but at least I'm trying and not kibitzing.

UPDATE: I have it on good authority that TPRS is now PDA-friendly. Ha!! Now, turn off your damn computer, go outside, and enjoy the sunshine, 'kay!?!
