Only black woman ever in Senate running for president
I offer the clearest alternative to this current administration, whose only new idea has been pre-emptive war and a huge new bureaucracy. I can fix the mess they have created because I am practical, I am not afraid of partnerships and I am committed to making the world a better place for our children.
- Carol Moseley-Braun
This may be a horribly politically incorrect thing to say, but I'm going to say it anyway. Carol Moseley-Braun was a lousy senator, she'll be a lousy Presidential candidate, and (assuming pigs will learn to fly) she'll be a lousy President. This reality has nothing to do with her being either African-American or a woman. From where I sit, it has everything to do with self-aggrandizement and self-promotion. In the end, she will be pulling down Dennis Kucinich numbers and doing little more than fattening the wallets of a few consultants and wasting the time of all of the rest of us.
When a candidate has nothing to offer but the fact that she is both African-American and female, one can't help but wonder why someone couldn't talk sense to her. I imagine she'll have to deal with reality soon enough, but she'll get a lot of column inches devoted to her before she flames out. This fact alone out to be an indication of the rabbit hole into which this campaign is headed:
During months of campaigning, Braun has struggled to build a fund-raising network. She has pleaded for financial support, especially when speaking to women's groups, but raised less than $250,000 in the first half of the year.
Say goodbye, Carol. Why waste your time- and, more importantly, ours?
