Primary on ice? Politics, pucks and past mix at JFK
Sen. Kerry plays quite a bit of hockey. He knows the fraternity of hockey players is a solid one, especially around here with the Bruins. He didn’t think it would take much, I’m sure, to get the guys to rally around him, even though most of us are Canadians and we can’t vote. This was more for us to play hockey and support a fellow hockey player.

A President who plays hockey is a real mensch in my book. That alone would almost convince me to vote for John Kerry. I'll guaran-damn-tee your that you will NEVER see George W. Bush trading body checks in a charity hockey game.
If John Kerry could rig the Democratic primary the way he rigged yesterday’s hockey game at the JFK Coliseum, Howard Dean, John Edwards and the rest of the party hopefuls wouldn’t stand a chance.
Skating between former Bruins Ken Hodge Jr. and Bob Sweeney, the presidential wannabe from Massachusetts camped out in front of the net for one scoring chance after another.
Thanks to the help of former U.S. Olympic goalie Erin Whitten — who skated away from the net every time he had the puck on his stick — the 60-year-old Kerry scored twice. Of course, he also fanned on about a half-dozen other prime opportunities.
“We wanted to get him a hat trick, and he had five opportunities to get the last goal and didn’t make it,” actor Denis Leary said.
Of course, being able to skate a full shift is hardly indicative of one's ability to handle the responsibilities of the most powerful office in the world, but it's not like the current (illegitimate) occupant of the White House has been lighting things up.
Of course, it's not as if there's much demand for a 60-year-old winger, is there??
