It's difficult for me to think that any thinking person would actually have been taken in by George W. Bush's "Compassionate Conservative" shtick. Seldom has a more transparent, bald-faced lie been perpetrated upon the American electorate. Thankfully, some Americans are waking up and realizing that using an oxymoron to sell oneself is not a recipe for success.
As he approaches the November election, President Bush has shed a good part of the "compassionate conservative" image he cultivated during the 2000 election, a Washington Post poll has found.
There is something to be said for walking the walk, and actions really DO speak louder than words. Bush has clearly demonstrated that "compassionate" and "Conservative" really are mutally exclusive in his case.
