How about a case study in shooting yourself in the foot?

Focus now turns to labor uncertainty

Now that the Stanley Cup Finals are over (and I've gone into mourning), the focus switches to the question of whether or not there will even be an NHL season in 2004-2005. The collective bargaining agreement expires on September 15th, and neither side has shown much of a willingness to compromise. Talk about being willing to kill the Goose that Laid the Golden Egg....

During the last lockout, in 1994, a lot of NHL players went to Europe. This time around, Europe may once again be the only place where you'll see NHL-level talent playing.

If you're studying for your MBA, and you're looking for a case study in poor management, poor labor relations, and poor fiscal management, you wouldn't have to look much farther than the NHL.

This is where I realize that I may need to be a wee bit more careful about what I write was the previous entry in this blog.

Before we beatify the man, let's remember what he stood for is the next entry in this blog.
