The Jenna and Barb Chat: Riiiiiiight (includes complete transcript...I'd recommend a double-espresso first)
Bush twins host online chat: Sisters answer 14 questions in the hourlong session
Like most kids, we do not agree with our parents on every single issue. Our parents...have never discouraged us from believing in things that they do not necessarily agree with. One opinion that we do share is that our father is the perfect person to be the president of the United States.
- Jenna and Barbara Bush
Could someone PLEASE tell me how this is even newsworthy? What could Jenna and Barbara Bush POSSIBLY add to the level and quality of debate in this Presidential campaign? Answer: absolutely nada- and yet the media is treating this as an event redolent with political significance. WTF??
News flash: First Twins Barbara and Jenna Bush say their dad should be re-elected. Also, they are working on his campaign "because we love our Dad so much."
Jenna and Barbara Bush, the freshest faces in President Bush's re-election campaign, hosted an Internet chat, "Speaking Out for Dad," on the official Bush-Cheney Web site Friday afternoon.
Most of the questions were predictably friendly.
"What character trait — as a father — do you appreciate most about your Dad and how do you see that trait manifest itself in him as president?" asked Lino Nicole of Humble. (Answer: He is open-minded and "treats each and every person with the utmost respect.")
About 2,700 people registered for the session at www.GeorgeWBush.com in advance, and another 1,000 joined it in progress, campaign spokeswoman Susan Whitson said. About 2,600 questions were submitted.
So out of all 2,600 questions, the twins' handlers selected just 14 softballs to lob at them? Jeez, let's not wear out the poor girl....
Yawn.... Knowing the Bush twins musical preferences adds what, exactly, to the debate? Gee, I wonder what their favorite colors are? How their favorite beers? Porn films? Oops, sorry...just started to head off the reservation a bit there.
Feeling the need to unwind after sweating through all those gentle, probing softball questions, Jenna decided to go out and unwind after the chat session ended:

I'm sorry, Jack, but I really think you crossed a line there in terms of good taste.
Especially since I am very familiar with the Carbondale bar scene, and how easy it is for under-age students to get served.
By the way -- if your favorite Saluki is ever looking for a little community service opportunity, I can suggest the shelter where I worked as staff for two years (actually lived on site). It is right behind the Rec Center, so it is within walking distance of campus.
I gotta say I agree with Greg here.
Especially since the very next post predicts that Rush Limbaugh will call John Edward's kids dogs. What's the difference between Limbaugh doing that and northstar posting the picture seen below the Bush twins story?
Limbaugh might indeed cross the line of good taste (provided Edwards is actually elected) but it seems that northstar's already taken that step.
Ironically, today's installment of progressive propaganda here at TPRS has exemplified one of Limbaugh's most frequent gripes about liberals; That they criticize their opponents for doing something, while doing the very same thing. Apparently, sometimes, the arrogant SOB is right (and correct.)
Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I can catch A Prarie Home Companion on NPR. Great show -- a bit less extreme than the current venue.
OK, OK, mea culpa...and here I thought I was being funny....
It might have been a little low, but I have to admit I laughed. Us conservatives need to lighten up a bit. If we can laugh at homely Chelsea we can laugh at the lushes.
I don't think that being a college student who gets alcohol under "questionable" circumstances makes you a lush.
Greg,
Chelsea never did anything that would make a picture like this possible, or there would have been wallpaper of it on conservatives' screens all over the country.
But Limbaugh called her a dog anyway.
Stupidity -- and what else would explain the condition the woman in the picture displays? -- is not and should not become a protected handicap.
Crossing lines on taste? "The Clintons have a new White House dog ..."
The picture northstar posted reminds us of just how much honor and dignity has been restored, and just what emphasis the Bushes place on 'family values'...
I'll see if I can track down the reports of Chelsea's wild nights.
