So, basically he's succeeded in proving that he's human

New political group pokes fun at Kerry’s football gaffes

I wonder if these maroons have ANY idea of the can of worms they could be opening. If they are planning to ridicule Kerry for a few random misstatements, they may want to look at the horse they are backing. George W. Bush is not exactly renonwned for his command of the English language.

Of course, a little humor might just do this sorry excuse for a campaign a world of good.

Even Bush has acknowledged his struggles with his native language. His reputation for misunderestimating his grasp of English is the stuff of legend. It may make him sound ignorant, but generally it’s a cute, harmless habit. It’s going to stay that way until and unless people try to make an issue out of a few Kerry misstatements. Then, the gloves come off.

I have no interest or desire to turn this farce into a campaign issue. Some folks seems to have no such qualms.

Two Washington-based lawyers supporting President Bush’s re-election have registered an advocacy group, Football Fans for Truth, as a Section 527 organization allowed to accept unlimited political donations. They plan to publicize Kerry’s recent sports misstatements such as his reference to home of the Green Bay Packers as “Lambert Field” instead of Lambeau Field.

Other gaffes they hope to bring wider attention to include Kerry’s talk of the Buckeyes — the nickname of Ohio State University’s team — while campaigning in University of Michigan Wolverine territory.

Lawyers Jeff Larroca and Dino Panagopoulos, both members of the law firm Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, said in a conference call Wednesday they have no plans to raise large amounts of cash.

Instead, they hope to get free publicity from sports talk radio and other media.

“Our goal is to basically find ways to get out the political humor about John Kerry’s unsuitability to be sportsman-in-chief,” Larroca said.

Well, I suppose this DOES beat the hell out of rehashing what did or did not happen 35 years either in Vietnam or the Alabama National Guard. Still, methinks that perhaps these folks need to spend some time focusing on issues that matter.

Besides, if we’re going to focus on the misstatements and linguistic mangulations of a candidate, Bush is the hands-down winner in this category. On my desk at works sits a “365 Bushisms” calendar, each day a new and different mangulation of the English language. Somehow, I think putting together a Kerry calendar would be a lot more work and a whole lot less interesting.
