NOW will you admit that "The Hammer" is a corrupt, power-hungry troglodyte?

DeLay rebuked again for ethics violations: House panel cites him for 2 incidents but doesn’t act on fund-raising issue

Eyebrows raised by fund-raiser. Panel: DeLay’s golf outing for energy executives looked improper.

I think people find it somewhat extraordinary that the ethics committee has had to admonish the majority leader twice in one week.

  • Rep. Chris Bell (D-TX)

If you happen to live in Texas Congressional District 22, I would strongly suggest that you WAKE UP AND SMELL THE CAT LITTER. Our Congressman, the notoriously corrupt and venal Tom DeLay, has now been admonished for his execrable behavior TWICE in less than a week. Even with DeLay’s immense political power and influence, his clear and obvious violations are such that not even the House ethics committee could find a way to whitewash the matter.

Anyone care to explain to me why DeLay deserves re-election??

The lawmaker from Sugar Land was cited for apparently linking political donations to legislation and for recruiting federal aviation officials to help search for Texas House members who fled Austin last year.

Action on a third allegation involving DeLay’s political fund-raising practices was deferred until a criminal investigation under way in Austin runs its course.

The ethics committee’s findings — prompted by complaints from Rep. Chris Bell, D-Houston — were outlined in a 44-page report recommending no further action against DeLay. The panel’s top Republican and Democrat had examined the charges for three months.

The admonishment spares DeLay a more lengthy investigation by the committee less than four weeks before he faces re-election in his Fort Bend County district.

DeLay characterized the committee’s decision as a dismissal of Bell’s complaint and a rebuke of Democrats and liberals who call for his ouster.

“Admonishment doesn’t even exist in the House rules,” DeLay said shortly after a late-night, closed-door meeting with a dozen GOP House leaders, including Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., outside the House chamber.

Of course, in his righteous indignation DeLay completely misses the importance of the underlying theme: that he has been publicly exposed- TWICE- as just another corrupt politician who thinks the rules do not apply to him.

DeLay may somehow manage to spin this as a “vindication”, but anyone with half a brain can see that The Emperor Has No Clothes. Only the most ignorant, oblivious, and partisan of Republicans can reasonably state that Tom DeLay is anything but just another corrupt, power-hungry politician with delusions of grandeur.

Of course, those of us in District 22 can do Texas and the country a favor. On November 2nd, we can vote for clean, honest, and upright representation in Congress. We can vote for Richard Morrison and send Tom DeLay back to exterminating cockroaches. It seems an oddly appropriate fate for DeLay, but given his overarching corruption and mean-spritedness, he deserves nothing less. Karma can be a real b—-h, eh?

WE DESERVE BETTER.
