Robbery Suspect Arrested After Radio Talk: Federal Officials Arrest Man for Bank Robbery After He Allegedly Bragged on Radio Station

DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener #205: Randy Washington

I don’t know about you, but if I had successfully robbed a bank and made off with $81,000, I don’t know that I’d be bragging about it. I sure as hell wouldn’t be calling a radio show and broadcasting my felonious exploits like…well, like a DUMB@$$. Of course, “stoopid” and “kriminul” seem to go together all too often. They certainly do in the case of Randy Washington.

If Washington had just managed to keep his mouth shut…well, I suppose we’d have to find ourselves another DUMB@$$, eh?

CHICAGO Feb 23, 2005 ó Federal officials say they have finally solved a bank robbery because a suspect bragged about the crime on a radio talk show.

A caller boasted on WKSC-FM that he and five others tied up employees at a TCF Bank branch in South Chicago Heights in April, took $81,000 and spent some of the money at expensive stores.

A bank employee heard the program last fall and called authorities, setting off a five-month investigation, according to a criminal complaint made public this week….

Clear Channel Communications regional vice president John Gehron said the station gave investigators the cell phone number and a transcript and recording of the call.

The FBI said agents traced the phone to Randy Washington, 24, who was arrested Feb. 17.

Washington appeared in court this week on one count of bank robbery. William Slate, 19, was arrested in Dallas, and authorities are searching for four other people they believe were involved.

They face up to 20 years in prison if convicted, FBI spokeswoman Cynthia Yates said.

The FBI says Washington denies any involvement in the robbery, claiming he called the radio station to win a prize.

Oh, yeah…Washington got himself a prize all right. He done got hisself his very own DUMB@$$ AWARD. Let’s just hope he’ll have shelf space in his cell so that he can proudly display it for his fellow inmates to see. It looks as if he is going to have a LOT of time to appreciate it as a guest of the federal government.
