Cheney accidentally shoots man while hunting
Naval Observatory Blues, or, My Aim Is Truthy
Over the weekend, Vice President Dick Cheney shot a man in Texas. Asked why he shot the man, the Vice President said, “Just to watch him die.”
WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot and injured a man during a weekend quail hunting trip in Texas, his spokeswoman said today. Harry Whittington, 78, was “alert and doing fine” after Cheney sprayed him with shotgun pellets on Saturday while the two were hunting at the Armstrong Ranch in South Texas, said property owner Katharine Armstrong. Armstrong said Whittington was mostly injured on his right side, with the pellets hitting his cheek, neck and chest, and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Jeez, when people talk about Republicans being out for blood, I always took it for a metaphor. Apparently, they were serious. Either that, or VP Dick Cheney has some serious anger management and/or aiming issues.
Of course, if you have to get yourself peppered with birdshot, being shot by the Vice President isn’t such a bad deal. The man comes fully equipped with a retinue of emergency medical personnel. so it’s not as if the luckless Mr. Whittington was wanting for immediate medical attention.
You know, I had no idea that quail were so difficult to distinguish from people….
