Another DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener

DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener #368: Ramsey Clark

It is critically important to remember [Milosevic’] struggle to preserve Yugoslavia. He became president at a time of greatest crisis. Everyone knew his health was failing but he was not granted proper medical care. Amid the struggle, his heart gave up.

I’ve always (sort of) admired Ramsey Clark’s willingness to take on unpopular causes. The former US Attorney General has always done what he has felt to be the right thing, even if it proved to be horribly unpopular at home…and most of the causes Clark has supported have, quite frankly, given Liberals a bad name. Even so, I can allow a man his foibles and lack of judgement if his heart is in the right place, which Clark’s generally has been…even if his choice of causes demonstrate a complete and total lack of judgement.

Unfortunately, when he decided to represent Saddam Hussein at his trial, that was where I had to draw the line. How an American attorney can in good conscience defend a despot and murderer such as Hussein- and more than merely defending Hussein, Clark has been championing his client as a great and resolute leader- is beyond me. Yesterday morning, though, was beyond anything that even I could have expected out of a looney tune like Clark.

So I’m sitting on my couch yesterday morning, drinking a cup of coffee and watching live coverage of Milosevic’s funeral “festivities” from Republic Square in Belgrade. I’m curious, because I’ve been there, and I’m interested in the degree of nationalist fervor being displayed, having experienced it first-hand during my time there. I almost choked on my coffee when, there at the podium was, yes, none other than Ramsey Clark, delivering a speech eulogizing the “Butcher of the Balkans”. I wanted to puke.

What does it say about your judgement when you not only represent one of the worst despots known to the Middle East, you show up to eulogize a man responsible for 250,000 citizens of the former Yugoslavia? And, even worse, you feed the nationalist fervors of right-Wing Serb nutjobs by saying that Milosevic was denied proper medical car. Unbelievable….

At one time, Ramsey Clark may have been a respectable jurist, a man of conviction and courage. Now, though, Ramsey Clark is merely your every day, garden variety DUMB@$$. Jeebus, what a dickweed….
