Clueless, offensive...and apparently built to stay that way

A Sickening Lack of Perspective

James Byrd had it bad, but at least he wasn’t a rich white man who died of natural causes.

The moral of this story is that sometimes it really IS better to be a common, garden variety DUMB@$$ that to be a clueless, out-of-touch, completely devoid of perspective jackass like Rev. WIlliam Lawson. Lawson, who in addition to being an ordained minister, also just happens to be African-American…so you might be forgiven for thinking that Lawson would understand the basic difference between James Byrd and Ken Lay. In case you for some inexplicable reason have the same problem as Rev. Lawson, here’s a graphic depiction that should spell out the difference between Ken Lay and James Byrd for you:

On the left is a photo of Kenneth Lay in handcuffs being led to the courtroom where he was being given his constitutional right to a fair trial for crimes he was alleged to have committed. On the right is a pair of black corpses hanging from a tree surrounded by a crowd of racist white people who seem to have viewed their senseless murders as little more than an excuse for a social gathering. Kenneth Lay died at his Aspen vacation home after having a heart attack. James Byrd died on a Jasper, Texas road after being dragged from a pickup truck until his head and right arm were ripped off.

So, you see, one of these things really isn’t like the other…and it gets worse. Lawson also compared Lay to Jesus Christ and JFK. Conspicuously absent were comparisons to Gandhi and Nelson Mandela, but perhaps Lawson was already so far over the edge that his pointy li’l haid was just fixin’ to explode. Poor thing….
