Speaking in tongues, weeping for salvation, praying for an end to abortion and worshipping a picture of President Bush — these are some of the activities at Pastor Becky Fischer’s Bible camp in North Dakota, “Kids on Fire,” subject of the provocative new documentary, “Jesus Camp.”….”I want to see them as radically laying down their lives for the gospel as they are in Palestine, Pakistan and all those different places,” Fisher said. “Because, excuse me, we have the truth.”
This angers me so much that I’ll just come right out and say it: Becky Fischer represents everything that’s wrong with those ignorant, hateful troglodytes who practice Christianity today. She’s the reason why Gandhi once said that it wasn’t Christianity he was worried about, it was Christians. Of course, Christianity as a religion hasn’t changed; what HAS changed are the numbers of intolerant, pointy-headed zealots willing to become to Christianity what suicide bombers are to Islam.
Since when does a religion require its adherents to commit murder and mayhem in it’s name? I’ll tell you when: IT DOESN”T. Show me where, in the Bible, or in the Koran, believers are commanded to kill unbelievers in the name of their preferred religion…go ahead, I’ll wait….
Of course, we’ll be here a good long while. Why? Because no matter how hard you look, you won’t find anything in either Holy Book that commands adherents to kill or blow $#!& up….and if you think otherwise, you’re a zealot and a DUMB@$$ willing to make facts up to fit your ignorant, fear-based belief system, not unlike Pastor Becky Fischer.
Perhaps what angers me most about Fischer’s stunning zealotry and her bastardization of the teachings of Jesus Christ is that she’s teaching her hatred-fueled “theology” to children. Children are being taught to hate and demonize those who do not believe as they do, all in the name of Jesus Christ. Is it just me, or is there something horribly wrong with this “theology”? Whatever happened to loving thy neighbor as thyself?
Fischer and her knuckle-dragging acolytes are in no sense any better than those Palestinians who strap C-4 to their chest, walk into an Israeli mall, and go Roman candle on everyone present. Fischer’s bastardized Christianity is every bit the intolerant zealotry that reasonable people decry in militant Islamofascism. Fischer’s brand of Christofascism is designed to produce the same sort of pseudo-religious zealots who take a seat on Israeli buses and blow everyone aboard into their version of Hell.
“This is an enormous youth movement,” said Lauren Sandler, a secular, liberal feminist from New York City who spent months among the believers researching her new book, “Righteous.”
Sandler says the evangelical youth movement will have a negative impact on the country’s future, because even the most moderate young evangelicals are inflexible on issues such as abortion and gay marriage.
“It’s an absolute, straight-up us-against-them,” Sandler said. “It’s, you’re either with us or you’re against us. ‚Äö√Ѭ∂ Not only are you a sinner, but you are working for the enemy — the enemy being Satan.”
And if you don’t think like Fischer and her band of intolerant troglodytes, you are the enemy- for in their eyes, you ARE Satan, and therefore your life and continued existence is forfeit. And these maroons call themselves Christians?
Whatever happened to wanting to live a Christ-like life? To wanting to live your life according to the teachings of a loving and benevolent Savior? Whatever happened to believing that your God is a just and compassionate God, and not a mean-spirited SOB simply looking for an excuse to squash your sorry ass like the miserable, insignificant, whimpering fool you are?
If Pastor DUMB@$$ Becky Fischer is a Christian, then I’m the Queen of England…and y’all oughta know by now that I do NOT look good in a tiara and ball gown….
