Gone...but still Texas'...er, Virginia's DUMB@$$

Tom DeLay’s New Cause: Conservative Takeover Of ‘Dancing With The Stars’

When Tom DeLay announced his resignation from Congress in June 2006, he said he wanted to “pursue new opportunities to engage in the important cultural and political battles of our day from an arena outside of the U.S. House of Representatives.” This morning, DeLay officially took up the important cultural/political battle of ABC’s reality show “Dancing with the Stars.” DeLay sent a mass e-mail to his supporters urging them to “help a good friend of mine, country music singer and GOP supporter Sara Evans,” who will be competing in this season’s show. From the letter (full text HERE).

So many of us were wondering what the next stage of life would hold for our favorite Virginia Texas Evangelical Conservative. Would Tom DeLay fade away gracefully, or would he find new, different, and less subject to being held accountable ways to spread his unique brand of mean-spirited, narrow-minded Christian love and charity? Well, now we have the answer. Though DeLay may have left the political arena, he’s hardly given up campaigning. Now he’s shilling for Republican eye candy/songbird Sara Evans…and. of course, DeLay has managed to turn “Dancing with the Stars” into an ideological battle- as only DeLay can.

In embarking on his latest Crusade, DeLay demonstrates once again that there is no aspect of American life that is immune to the hatred-fueled stylings of his brand of Evangelical Republican Christianity. With DeLay, it’s all “Good vs. Evil” all the time. Jeebus, now that he’s out of office, you’d think he’d lighten up a bit. Then again, DeLay doesn’t appear to have a humorous, joyous bone in his tired, intolerant, judgemental body.

Sara Evans has been a strong supporter of the Republican Party and represents good American values in the media. From singing at the 2004 Republican Convention to appearing with candidates in the last several election cycles, we have always been able to count on Sara for her support of the things we all believe in….One of her opponents on the show is ultra liberal talk show host Jerry Springer. We need to send a message to Hollywood and the media that smut has no place on television by supporting good people like Sara Evans.

“Good American values?” Like dancing suggestively in skimpy dresses represents the height of “good American values”….

Jeebus, what a freakin’ hypocrite. Hey, Tom, why not just go home to Virginia, where you can surround yourself with all the rich, well-fed white folks a good, God-fearing Christian could possibly want, and you can while away your retirement years as just another rich, White Lamb of God? ‘Cuz Lord knows we’re sure as Hell tired of your hateful, ignorant, intolerant act here.
