Writer of ABC’s 9/11 ‘Docudrama’ Is Avowed Conservative Activist
New ABC Docudrama Blames Clinton For 9/11, Praises Bush
ABC will present “The Path to 9/11,” a dramatization of the events detailed in The 9/11 Commission Report and other sources, in an epic miniseries event that will air with limited commercial interruption.
I knew something was horribly amiss when Rush Limbaugh starting pushing ABC’s docudrama, The Path to 9/11 as a must-see. Anyone who knows anything about Limbaugh knows that he would NEVER shill for anything that didn’t closely mirror his own narrow, self-absorbed Conservatism. So why, then, is Limbaugh beating the drums for something that isn’t even a documentary? It’s a “docudrama”, which basically means that a scriptwriter can twist the facts to support whatever ideological agenda he chooses- and that appears to be exactly what Cyrus Nowrasteh, an avowed Conservative activist, has done.
Nowrasteh, a friend of Limbaugh’s, has apparently taken a good deal of literary license with the facts leading up to 9.11, with the (surprise!!) end result that much of the blame for 9.11 is placed squarely at the feet of former President Bill Clinton, while Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader comes off as some sort of hero. When you’re a highly partisan Conservative activist more concerned with ideology than truth, I suppose you can do this sort of thing. That doesn’t mean it isn’t despicable, however. Not that representing the truth has ever been a particular concern of Rush Limbaugh:
A friend of mine [Cyrus Nowrasteh] out in California has produced and filmed — I think it’s a two-part mini-series on 9/11 that ABC is going to run in prime-time over two nights, close to or on 9/11. It’s sort of surprising that ABC’s picked it up, to me. I’ve had a lot of people tell me about it, my friends told me about it….And from what I have been told, the film really zeros in on the shortcomings of the Clinton administration in doing anything about militant Islamofascism or terrorism during its administration. It cites failures of Bill Clinton and Madeleine Albright and Sandy Burglar.
Never mind, of course, that 9.11 didn’t happen on Bill Clinton’s watch…it’s still Clinton’s fault.
What upsets me more than anything is that ABC is willing to air a 9.11-related “docudrama” that take fact, mixes it with fiction, Conservative ideology, and unabashed Bush-worship, and creates and unrecognizable mush that will no doubt be presented without a disclaimer identifying it as something less than truthful.
WHAT LIBERAL MEDIA?
No, I have not seen The Path To 9/11, and I have no plan to. I have better things to do with my time than to spend it watching something that’s little more than Right-wing propaganda enabled and abetted by a major television network. Of course, the reality behind the propagandistic nature of The Path To 9/11 will under no circumstances be revealed to the viewing public, most of whom will no doubt unquestioningly accept it as Gospel truth. Despicable? Sure. Dishonest? Without a doubt. Not-so-thinly-veiled propaganda? Youdamnbetcha. You can do that sort of thing when you’re an unabashed Conservative activist.
WHAT LIBERAL MEDIA?
What exactly is the problem with The Path To 9/11? Well, here’s a review from Salon that might give you a clue:
Condoleezza Rice gets that fated memo about planes flying into buildings, and makes it very clear to anyone who’ll listen just how concerned President Bush is about these terrorist threats — despite the fact that we’re given little concrete evidence of the president’s concern or interest in taking action. Maybe my memory fails me, but the only person I remember talking about Osama bin Laden back in 1998 was President Clinton, while the current anti-terrorist stalwarts worked the country into a frenzy over what? Blow jobs. In the end, “The Path to 9/11” feels like an excruciatingly long, winding and deceptive path, indeed.
Indeed. And the CONSERVATIVE MEDIA…yes, you read that correctly- the CONSERVATIVE MEDIA…are fully complicit in spreading this Right-wing piece of dishonest, propaganistic crap. WHAT LIBERAL MEDIA??
