Barack Hussein Obama: Once a Muslim, Always A Muslim
So, even if he identifies strongly as a Christian, and even if he despised the behavior of his father (as Obama said on Oprah); is a man who Muslims think is a Muslim, who feels some sort of psychological need to prove himself to his absent Muslim father, and who is now moving in the direction of his father’s heritage, a man we want as President when we are fighting the war of our lives against Islam? Where will his loyalties be? Is that even the man we’d want to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency, if Hillary Clinton offers him the Vice Presidential candidacy on her ticket (which he certainly wouldn’t turn down)? NO WAY, JOSE … Or, is that, HUSSEIN?
Jeebus, the level of ignorance and hatred emanating from the unbalanced, nutjob Far Right is growing almost exponentially by the day. The latest lunacy seems to surround Islam and those who practice, which is the Rabid Right’s latest bogeyman du jour. It seems that, if the stories are to be believed, the mere fact of being a Muslim automatically makes one’s patriotism suspect and convincing evidence of not being a loyal and devoted American (After all, a REAL American would go to church on Sunday mornings and accept Jesus Christ as his personal savior). And, if you’re our latest DUMB@$$, once a Muslim, ALWAYS a Muslim. Since you’re always tarred with the label, you’re automatically suspect, and your loyalties will always be questioned.
Schlussel even goes so far as to question Sen. Barack Obama’s loyalties…because his father was a Muslim, and because Obama has displayed an increasing interest in his father’s Kenyan heritage. OHMIGOD…he’s a closet Islamofascist!! I’ll bet he prays toward Mecca in his Senate office!!
Ah, the hatred of Muslims…it’s the gift that keeps on giving. Can you think of a better way, post 9.11, for a good, God-fearing Evangelical Christian Republican to prove their patriotic bona fides than to spew hatred against Islam and those who practice it? What better way to prove that you have nothing positive to add to the public discourse? What better way to prove that your ignorance and zealotry is surpassed only by your willingness to pander to the drooling sycophants on the Far Right? What better way to display your reactionary “patriotism” than to demonstrate that you’re ready, willing, and able to react and destroy rather than think and consider the consequences of your words and actions?
If the only way people like Schlussel and her fellow knuckle-dragging troglodytes can find to destroy Barack Obama (OHMIGOD…his middle name is HUSSEIN!!! Cue the drooling mob with the torches and pitchforks….) is through rumor, innuendo, and character assassination…. Well, hopefully all they’re really accomplishing is to demonstrate how little of the Bill of Rights they truly understand. Hello? Freedom of religion?? Y’all might remember that one…and despite what y’all might think, it’s NOT “freedom of Christianity”.
If you don’t support Obama, that’s your choice. That does NOT give you the right to engage in character assassination, innuendo, and religious oppression based on the man’s middle name. Debbie Schlussel ought to be ashamed of herself. Instead of making a reasoned, rational argument, she has chosen to engage in the sort of character assassination typical of those on the Far Right. Having nothing positive to add herself, she’s content to attempt to try and destroy a man who is legitimately trying to make a difference. That Schlussel sees nothing wrong with her ignorant, inflammatory diatribe only goes to prove that she’s a fool, an ignoramus…and a confirmed DUMB@$$. May she roast in Hell….
