Today's sign that the Apocalypse is upon us

A Second Act in Cyberspace

A tribute to the 75-minute period where tom delay actually received feedback from America

DeLay launches new conservative force

Tom DeLay’s back, this time on the Internet. Friends tell us that the powerful former House majority leader, dubbed the “Hammer” for his tough persuasion tactics, this week unveils TomDeLay.com, where he’ll blog‚Äö√Ñ√ÆDeLay’s Daily‚Äö√Ñ√Æon newsy issues and build a coalition he’s calling Grassroots, Action, and Information Network. Sources said the right-leaning Texan will give gain members insider information on the conservative movement and urge them to step in on key issues. And Democrats need not apply: His site will have a way to filter them out.

Well, here’s something that we probably could have lived without: Tom DeLay has discovered the joy of blogging. I’m not at all certain that DeLay has anything useful to add, but I suppose another voice only serves to show that we still care about freedom of speech. The important thing from his point of view seems to be that he thinks he has something to say.

From what I’ve been reading on some other sites around Texas, there seems to be some debate on whether not DeLay is the one actually doing the writing. In the end, it probably doesn’t matter, because there are enough Red Meat Conservatives out there to give DeLay (or whoever may or may not be writing under his name) some hope that he can make a difference in the public debate. These folks seem to look up to him as their Great White Hope patron saint while at the same time being willing to completely overlook DeLay’s legal, moral, and ethical issues. Of course, you can do this when you’ve managed to convince yourself that DeLay is the victim of an orchestrated Liberal campaign to hound him from office. As if….

If only that were the case. DeLay’s denials to the contrary, his predicament is of his own making. When you begin to believe your press clippings, when you believe that you ARE the federal government…well, pride goeth before a fall, no?

One quick observation, though: I’m willing to bet that DeLay, after his 75-minute experience with open comments, is going to be a fair bit more careful about controlling access. Yes, membership does have it’s privileges, especially when you want to filter out those unwilling to fawn over you.

Such unmitigated gall. Your 3 First Principles “Order, Justice, and Freedom” obviously don’t include Honesty, Integrity, or Ethics. I particularly like the way the House Ethics Committee chairman, Joel Hefley, was removed after rebuking you 3 times. Yes, he was replaced by Delay groupie Doc Hastings, with a couple other groupies connected with your PAC. Sorta make sure no more untoward rebukes occur.

It’s good that you’re no longer a Representative; the stench of the 109th Congress will take a long time to fix.

What a magnificently, terrifically boring and irrelevant blog. Honestly, who on earth cares what you have to say?

You left Congress disgracefully and you want people to take you seriously? You should be in prison you assclown, piss off Tom.

December 10, 2006 | Unregistered Commenter Tom you suck

Didn’t we already stick a fork in your ass and decide you’re done?

To paraphrase you: You WERE the Federal Government…now you’re a nothing.

The fact that you are trying to keep your name alive by starting a stupid blog is actually kind of pathetic and sad. Please just go away.

You wouldn’t know “honesty” if came up and BIT YOU IN THE ASS.

How pathetic you are, Mr. Delay. You are a criminal, and you should be serving time in jail alomg with your buddies Abramhoff and Cunningham.

The damage you have done to this country is reprehinsible.

Do us all a favor and just disappear, you sorry excuse for a person.

Yeah, with friends like these, who needs enemas? If I were DeLay, and I’d set up a blog, I’d sure as Hell be controlling access to comments. After all, he can’t claim to be surprised that a lot of us would rather seem him in an orange prison jumpsuit and fending off the amorous advances of someone named “Bruno” than sitting in front of a keyboard. DeLay should be in prison, not trying to advance his narrow, self-absorbed political agenda.

Still, the idea of Tom DeLay as a blogger does seem rich in comic potential, no??
