Another DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener

Geraldo wants to whoop up on Olbermann

DUMB@$$ AWARD wieners #505: Geraldo Rivera

I’m constantly amazed that someone as talent-light and ego-heavy as Geraldo Rivera can still find work on television. Of course, we’re talking about Fox News Channel here, so it’s not as if you can call Rivera a journalist- more like an ideological warrior. Listening to one of his reports, which I normally try to avoid like the plague, is a truly excruciating experience in. Rivera, plain and simple, is a DUMB@$$- a man so consumed with his own self-perceived stunning, white-hot brilliance, that he’s incapable of recognizing that his career has degenerated into that of a professional laughing stock.

Geraldo Rivera couldn’t hold Keith Olbermann’s jock. Olbermann is intelligent, erudite, and willing to speak truth to power. Rivera is facile, self-absorbed, and probably got a set of knee pads for Christmas from Rupert Murdoch. Rivera has never had a shred of credibility, and the only way he’s capable of attracting any attention is by challenging Olbermann to a fight (uh…by the way, Aaron Burr’s dead, Mr. Rivera….)

Apparently Geraldo was visiting with 104.1 FM’s Monsters just before Christmas, when they asked him about the time he made international headline for disclosing too much information about troops in Iraq. Geraldo claimed the incident was blown out of proportion, largely by NBC — and specifically Olbermann. Geraldo then began mumbling semi-audible names, seemingly meant to describe Olbermann: “midget … punk … slimeball.”

But then, with the Monsters helpful prodding, Geraldo went a step further, leaving no doubt about what he was saying. He called Olbermann a coward — specifically a “[female part of the anatomy] who wouldn’t walk across the street against the red light.”

He then said he was ready to fight him, saying: “I would make a pizza out of him.”

Yessiree…’tis better to be thought a DUMB@$$ than to be Geraldo Rivera and remove all doubt…not that there really was any to begin with.
