MOVEON CALLS OUT MCCAIN ON HIS IRAQ FLIP FLOPS
This is going to sound strange coming from a confirmed and unreconstructed Librul, but I actually admire John McCain for the lengths he’s going to in order to secure the support of a bigoted, Right-wing Evangelical zealot like Dobson. McCain is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to convincing the radical Religious Right that he’s their man. When he’s done there, he’ll no doubt work on convincing more moderate Republicans that he’s also their man. Most reasonable people might wonder how McCain will get the support of both groups…and it’s a very good question. What you’re going to no doubt see over the next year or so is John McCain making every effort to be all things to all people. It won’t be pretty, but John McCain is a true Republican, a man whose true (and really only) concern is with political power- getting it and maintaining it. The Presidency is the ultimate end…and yes, for Republicans, the end truly justifies the means- ANY means.
I don’t know if the McCain campaign has come up with a slogan yet, but the one that leaps to mind from what I’ve seen from the Senator from Arizona is: WHATEVER IT TAKES.
