Because propaganda is it's own reward

Will Bush mention the maggot-infested bed sores?

Bush attacks Iraq deadline

House Passes the U.S. Troop Readiness, Veterans’ Health and Iraq Accountability Act

Anyone familiar with the Universal Code of Military Justice, as well as American military custom and tradition, knows that there’s expected to be a strict separation between uniformed personnel and partisan political activities. So what was Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © doing using uniformed military personnel at a White House photo op/presser to denounce the House vote on a timeline to end the war in Iraq? Being the cynical sort that I am, my suspicion is that the White House press weenie who set up the shot (and has their ever been a Bush photo op that hasn’t been thoroughly vetted ahead of time??) knew full well what he or she was doing…and simply didn’t care.

The underlying message of Bush’s photo op is that he is the brave defender of our troops, and…why, look, there’s one right here!! I’m just surprised they didn’t make her available for questions.

Is this merely another brazen attempt by the Bushies to do whatever it takes to get their message across? Like I really need to answer that question….

Somewhere, Niccolo Machiavelli and Josef Goebbels are smiling….
