Pardon me while I revel in the pitiful bleatings of a defeated and neutered bully

Tom DeLay: Dems Are Mean To Me, Like Hitler

DeLay: Dems Are Now Like Hitler

“I believe it was Adolf Hitler who first acknowledged that the big lie is more effective than the little lie, because the big lie is so audacious, such an astonishing immorality, that people have a hard time believing anyone would say it if it wasn’t true. You know, the big lie ‚Äö√Ñ√Æ like the Holocaust never happened or dark-skinned people are less intelligent than light-skinned people. Well, by charging this big lie” ‚Äö√Ñ√Æ that DeLay violated campaign-finance laws in Texas ‚Äö√Ñ√Æ “liberals have finally joined the ranks of scoundrels like Hitler.”

You know, it’s generally been the Right that has accused the Left of invoking Godwin’s Law. It’s historically been their favorite tactic for trying to end an argument when it’s not going their way. Realistically (listen to Fox News Channel sometime if you don’t believe me), Conservatives are so into their smug sense of superiority that they simply can’t be bothered to prepare to argue an issue on the merits. So often (cue up Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, John Gibson, etc., ad nauseum, ad infinitum), a discussion with a Conservative will end up with them shouting “SHUT UP!!” when they discover that they can’t compete on the merits of their argument. Tom DeLay is no different. Having no argument and no credibility, he simply resorts to whining about Democrats acting like “Nazis”. Nice, eh? (Mr. Godwin? You table is ready….)

Will someone remind me how and why this @$$wipe spent 24 years in Congress? As far as I can tell, his claim to ideological superiority consisted of little more then ridiculing Democrats as gay-loving, anti-American, anti-Christian girlie men. I suppose that, after 24 years of being the most powerful man in Washington, it’s got to be difficult to admit that your time is past, that you’re irrelevant, and that NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOU OR YOUR ANGRY, BITTERLY PARTISAN BLEATINGS ANY LONGER. One day you’re ruling the federal government, holding Presidents and cabinet secretary by the balls, the next you’re on the outside looking in, contemplating life as someone’s b—-h in a federal lockup.

Karma can be a real b—-h, don’tchaknow??

If pride and arrogance truly goeth before a fall, then Tom DeLay has suffered a major face-plant…and few are enjoying watching DeLay get his long-overdue comeuppance more than I.

Never mind the invocation of Godwin’s Law, never mind the fact that, where big lies are concerned, the Republicans seem to have that covered ‚Äö√Ñ√Æ DeLay can’t even be bothered to fact-check his own book! “I believe it was Adolf Hitler, but I can’t be sure, because I haven’t bothered typing the phrase “Hitler” and “big lie” into Google. Buy my book!” Seriously. What a bozo.

You see, the problem with Republicans is that most are simply unwilling and/or unable to take responsibility for their own hypocrisy, shortcomings, and lack of vision. It’s much easier to place blame on evil, girlie-men Democrats than to honestly look inward and accept responsibility for the failings of the GOP. Gee, could it be the corruption? The arrogance? The Machiavellian “(&^% you, we’re in charge” attitude? Or how about that war in Iraq? “Mission Accomplished”, eh??

And here’s another thing…Republicans actually think that personal attacks, character assassination, and associating Democrats with terrorists are legitimate and perfectly appropriate tactics. They actually think associating Osama bin-Laden with Barack Obama is funny. (Well, Obama’s middle name IS Hussein, right? What more evidence do you need??)

Yes, Viriginia…Lee Atwater lives.

Honestly, Tom DeLay is yesterday’s news. His hateful, arrogant, Machiavellian tactics have finally caught up with him…and this country is a better place for it. Interesting, isn’t it, that “the Hammer” is now lashing out, accusing Democrats of using the same tactics he did for 24 years? Ain’t no fun being on the receiving end, is it??

Tom Delay can go suck on it. His time is past, and he’s no longer a voice that carries any relevance or import…and you’ll just have to excuse me if I’m enjoying his downfall perhaps just a wee bit too much.
