An exercise in willfully ignoring abject reality

Snow: ‚Äö√Ñ√≤I Don’t Know’ If Iraq War Has Helped Stabilize Middle East, It’s ‚Äö√Ñ√≤Hard To Say

CNN correspondent Ed Henry asked White House spokesman Tony Snow whether the “war in Iraq has helped push the peace process forward in any way.” Snow’s response: “Don’t know. ‚Äö√Ѭ∂ Hard to say.” Echoing his claim last week attacks in Iraq were “signs of success,” Snow suggested that the increased violence in the region is a by-product of “pro-democracy movements‚Äö√Ѭ∂making some progress.”

It’s truly amazing watching someone as undeniably intelligent, gifted, and articulate as Tony Snow lie, propagandize, and prevaricate his way around what probably 99.7% of sentient Americans know to be the truth: Iraq is a mess, and Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader’s © excellent adventure is a total and complete clusterf—k. The Middle East is a mess, and all you have to do is to look at Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon to understand that the American presence in Iraq hasn’t exactly spread a calming effect across the region. That Snow seems willing to ignore reality with a “you stupid, (&^%$#@ moron” smile on his face is truly disturbing and yet at the same time symbolic of a President and an Administration that long ago divorced themselves from both reality and truth.

The Big Lie lives, and somewhere Josef Goebbels is smiling….
