Another DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener

Ga. judge: Keep Potter books in school

DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener #594: Laura Mallory

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. ‚Äö√Ñ√Æ The adventures of boy wizard Harry Potter can stay in Gwinnett County school libraries, despite a mother’s objections, a judge ruled Tuesday. Laura Mallory, who argued the popular fiction series is an attempt to indoctrinate children in witchcraft, said she still wants the best-selling books removed and may take her case to federal court….. “I maybe need a whole new case from the ground up,” Mallory said. The woman, who said two of her four children attend public schools in the county, was not represented by an attorney at the hearing.

In far too many cases, being a DUMB@$$ means getting your 15 minutes of fame, when in all honesty it’s about 14:58 more than you truly deserve under even the most optimistic of circumstances. Welcome to Laura Mallory’s world. Though she hasn’t actually read any of the Harry Potter series, she’s somehow managed to rub her three functioning brain cells together long enough to convince herself that J.K. Rowling is promoting witchcraft. Following this twisted line of reasoning to it’s logical conclusion, Rowling is actually promoting the active and aggressive hatred of God, who’s been kicked out of our public schools. This, of course, is why this country is going to Hell in a handbasket.

If ONLY our children were allowed to learn about God….

J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books, published by London-based Bloomsbury Publishing PLC, tell stories of children with magic powers. They are the most challenged texts of the 21st century, according to the American Library Association.

At Tuesday’s hearing, Mallory argued in part that witchcraft is a religion practiced by some people and, therefore, the books should be banned because reading them in school violates the constitutional separation of church and state.

“I have a dream that God will be welcomed back in our schools again,” Mallory said. “I think we need him.”

Here’s a news flash for hyper-religious trolls like Mallory: God was never declared persona nongrata in our schools. However, we do have this thing called “separation of Church and State”, which thankfully prevents American tax dollars from being used to turn public schools into Christian indoctrination centers (that’s why we have churches, remember?). Schools are about education…and strangely enough, not all Americans profess Christianity as their raison d’etre.

If you want you child to be educated in a Christian environment, there’s certainly nothing wrong with that- as long as my tax dollars aren’t used for that purpose. There are plenty of private schools around who will happily indoctrinate educate your child in a manner that more closely reflects your own narrow-minded ignorant prejudices beliefs..

Oh, and the next time you want to protest a book or series of books…you might try actually READING them so you at least sound as if you have some idea of what you’re talking about. Just in case sounding like a clueless, knuckle-dragging troglodyte WASN’T your goal….

Lord, save us from your followers…
