Ah, self-delusion...the hallmark of an insightful leader

Bush Insists Al Qaeda in Iraq Threatens U.S.

WASHINGTON, July 24 ‚Äî President George W. Bush argued forcefully today that an Al Qaeda-affiliated group in Iraq is linked tightly to the central Al Qaeda leadership, and that for American forces to leave Iraq without defeating the terror group would be ‚Äúdangerous for the world and disastrous for America.‚Äù…. In a half-hour speech clearly aimed at his Democratic critics, Mr. Bush said that those who argued that the affiliated group, called Al Qaeda in Iraq or AQI, was a local group with local objectives, and not a serious threat to Americans at home, were seriously misinformed…. ‚ÄúIt‚Äôs hard to argue that Al Qaeda in Iraq is separate from bin Laden‚Äôs Al Qaeda when the leader of Al Qaeda in Iraq took an oath of allegiance to Osama bin Laden,‚Äù Mr. Bush said, referring to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, a leader of the affiliated group in Iraq who was killed last year.

I never cease to be amazed by the power of the human mind to convince itself of literally anything, no matter how irrational or patently absurd. The problem, of course, comes when someone heavily invested in perpetuating their self-delusion is in a position of supreme power. Yes, America…welcome to your nightmare- and you elected him. Nice job, eh?

If there was any lingering doubt that Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © is a (&^%$#@ moron, yesterday’s diatribe should seal the deal for you. This President is so beholden to his own propaganda, so wedded to his version of “reality”, that he’s willing to sacrifice thousands of American lives to avoid being proved horribly, irretrievably, and ignominiously wrong.

IF Al Qaeda is the major threat in Iraq, and that’s a matter of some dispute, it’s because The Worst President EVER © made it so. Simply put, THERE WAS NO TERRORIST THREAT IN IRAQ PRIOR TO KING GEORGE THE WORST’S © EXCELLENT ADVENTURE. How much more clearly can that fact be stated? There was no active Al Qaeda presence in Iraq prior to the American invasion. The Decider © literally created out of whole cloth the very terrorist threat he is now so heavily invested in fighting in Iraq…so we don’t have to fight them here, don’tchaknow??

Good Lord, I’m so sick and tired of the lies and the propaganda and Americans coming home in boxes. Could someone PLEASE just volunteer to give him a blowjob so he could be impeached? Really…someone will probably nominate you for a Congressional Medal of Honor…and the honorarium should be enough to get the stain out of your blue dress. I’d volunteer, but blue really isn’t my color…oh, and I’m straight.

NOW CAN WE IMPEACH THE LYING, MURDERING BASTARD??

"THERE WAS NO TERRORIST THREAT IN IRAQ PRIOR TO KING GEORGE THE WORST’S © EXCELLENT ADVENTURE" ....really? You don't think Saddam Hussein was a terrorist? WOW!? That's quite a statement. I guess you aren't concerned with credibility, you obviously just like to throw things out there. Hmmm? Saddam and Iraq were not a threat to anyone and were victimized by the US. Yeah?! That has a nice ring to it. You clearly have that human mind power that you referring to in your post.

"Could someone PLEASE just volunteer to give him a blowjob so he could be impeached?" .....as you know, blowjobs don't lead to impeachments. Hahaha!! You must have that special human mind power you speak of, equivalent to a Jedi.

Actually USAer, I think it's quite clear to most people, though perhaps not the 28% or whatever it's down to now, that Saddam was not a threat to the U.S. But we heard about "we wouldn't the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud" and about links to 9/11 and all manner of weapons of mass destruction, none of course being found.

Just because you bought the line and still do doesn't mean it was or is right. It means you were and are wrong. Get over it.

..the quote is actually "we wouldn't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud". Sorry. But not as sorry as I am that the person who uttered that falsehood is still Secretary of State.

In this YouTube clip Bill Maher does a funny but true rant on the Iraq invasion and the "think tanks" that promoted it.

Memo to USAer: 'Tis better to be thought a fool than to spew your alleged brilliance forth, click "POST", and thereby remove all doubt.

Dennis you write “Actually USAer, I think it’s quite clear to most people...” Your problem is simple. It should more appropriately read “Actually USAer, I duh?! It’s quite clear to most people.”

Saddam wasn’t a threat to the US? HAHAHA!!!

Just on the merits of being insubordinate to UN weapons inspections proves he was!! Now, if you want to argue the fact that he turned out to be bluffing, OK then, let’s do that……., but let me put it simpler terms……I will even spare you classic poker references, as we all know a bluff is one of the most effective hands in poker.

So let’s play fantasy world, as you seem to prefer it………Now pay attention and read slow so you don’t miss anything……

An ex-con named Sam is walking around your neighborhood, which we will call World Street, with his revolver. It’s the same street your family and friends live on. Everyone knows that Sam doesn’t have any bullets because he has to show the neighborhood sheriff his gun and case every month. Now, Sam claims his revolver is a collectable and it’s just for show, even though, Sam’s been known to have a violent streak and no regard for human life. One day you hear a rumor that Sam and his shady boyz have been seen hanging out talking about bullets. Then you also find out Sam has been defying the sheriff and his mandatory inspections…….

Dennis, here is the part where you can make up your own fairy tale ending..… Seeing that bullets are very rare and hard to come by, Sam at best, might be hiding one bullet for his revolver.…… Even if he loaded his gun you stand an 80% chance of him shooting a blank. WOW!!! 80%!! That’s a very high rate, which only leaves 20% for your head to be blown off. (As you can see, 20% in many cases is significantly more important than an 80% rating) SO? Cowboy..you gonna take out your six shooter, walk down to Sam’s place, and take down old Sam to ensure your friends and family’s safety, including your own? OR you want Sam to look you in the eyes one day and say “You’ve got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya punk?”

Dennis, is it worse for Sam to possibly blow off your head in the above example or is it worse for you to say ‘we wouldn’t want that revolver to have a bullet in it” as you stands over the dead body of Sam?

Memo to Jack: “tis better to spew forth than to be though impotent’

USAer, you're the only one thinking me impotent, which really says more about your ridiculous immaturity than it does any of the rest of us. If that's the best you've got....

This would be off topic if not for the fact that USAer should get to know a real conservative, Ron Paul.

The revolution comes to Houston!

Hahaha!! Hahahaha!!!! Jack, looks like I hit a sensitive cord. It's clever for you to go back an edit your last comment, you must have felt self conscious with your original effort, HAHAHAHA!!!! Funny thing how people interpret things. Let's take you for example and the word IMPOTENT: 1. lacking ability. 2. utterly unable. 3. without effectiveness. 4. unable to sustain a penile erection. Hahaha!!! Why would you possible thing that my post has anything to do with your penis. Hahaha!!! It's ridiculous that that's the definition you would jump to. Sorry Jack! Didn’t mean to shake up your emotions and self consciousness over an apparent sensitive topic. I was merely referring to your inability to reply with more than a (now-edited) memo, that you wrote for little ol' me.

USAer?? Can we talk? I normally let the better spoken of my colleagues address people like you, but ...

If you want to talk about being insubordinate to UN rules being a reason to be invaded by a bunch of crusaders... get ready because they should be here momentarily. We do NOT follow all UN conventions, we do NOT honor treaties entered into by former administrations although we expect others to, we really are NOT liked by much of the world, and based on the last two presidential elections, we have a definite need of UN election observers at all polling places.

With regard to your Sam analogy, may I remind you that we have many weapons and while we "say" they're only used for peace, I would refer you to the innocent women and children slain by our weapons in Iraq due to their being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Next thing, you'll be telling us that women belong home, in the kitchen, tending and breeding children. If that's such a good place for them, tell it to Condi.

Leslie, I can assure you, the better spoken colleagues you are counting on you.

OK….let’s talk….first off, I’m not sure if it is appropriate to compare the US with countries like Iraq, not to mention hold them to the same standards or criticism. Now, if the majority of the US citizens lived in poverty, and select groups fall victim to genocide at the leisure of their leader, who would also construct White Houses in every county in every state, while extorting Aid from other countries, SURE!, but I don’t think that’s the case.

As far as not being liked….we aren’t. Why would we be? And when have we been? Are you suggesting we once were like in the world? Or haven’t we always been on the receiving end of negativity? That is of course, not including the necessary relationships and allies a country has pending our charitable contributions and special interests.

The only thing the last two elections need is better candidates from all side. You are being a silly willy saying that we need the UN there, hehe! Giggle, giggle!

I take back what I said earlier, I agree, you should leave things to your better spoken colleagues. You didn’t pay attention or read slow as I clearly stated. I knew this would happen, you see, you need to read slow and pay attention so you don’t make the mistake of reading what you want. OK, do over…..you don’t need to remind me that we have many weapons (in this case a revolver) because I wrote that we went down to Sam’s and shot him with it.
As far as using them safely and being in the wrong place at the wrong time, well that’s a big part of, AGAIN, what I wrote…..which is the proactive act of killing Sam to assure that our friends and family on World Street aren’t the ones in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Leslie, why don’t you ask Jack Clutch if Tim Haviland was in the wrong place at the wrong time?

Actually that is an interesting question….. Jack would you choose the innocent “wrong place at the wrong time” Tim Haviland’s life over the innocent “wrong place at the wrong time” Iraqi random citizen’s life.

It sucks to be a citizen in Iraq, but many things suck…. it sucks to be on welfare, or homeless, or poor, or stupid, or ugly. Sucks to be working at the world trade center. Sucks to come in last place, sucks to lose your wallet……WHATEVER!!!!!
I’m not concerned with the collateral damage of war. I am concerned with out troops having to pussy foot around and get killed just so we don’t offend people like you.

What’s with the women comment, doesn’t really apply here. Hahaha!!!, Poor Leslie, are you also sub-consciously coming forth in your commentary with deep rooted personal problems like Jack.
