Time was when purveyors of news at least pretended to be ideologically neutral. Journalistic impartiality may never have been an actually reality, but at least networks acted as if that was the case. Fox News Channel, though it claims to be “fair and balanced”, is nothing but an unvarnished far-Right propaganda outlet. What never ceases to amaze me is how serious FNC takes itself…and how seriously so many seem to take FNC.
When ignorance, fear, and propaganda rule…well, that would certainly help to explain the mess this country is in today, wouldn’t it?? When this sort of vicious, ignorant propaganda is allowed to be broadcast intentionally in the name of “impartial” journalism, and when that same network can without any shame proclaim itself “fair and balanced”, well…. What can possibly be said about this travesty? If nothing else, it helps to explain why more than 54 million allegedly lucid Americans could have voted to “re-elect” Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © in 2004. This simple, short answer is that we’ve become a nation of sheep. Unable or (more likely) unwilling to do the heavy lifting of thinking critically, the American sheeple have become willing to believe simplistic propaganda when it meshes with their pre-existing prejudices and fears.
