Just think what might be accomplished if this sort of energy was used for something positive

When Militant Homosexuals Attack

Joe Brummer who writes at his blog “Replace the Lies with Truth” once again has chosen to vilify, me, Peter LaBarbera, Focus on the Family, and Stephen Bennett by implying that we all want to see homosexuals dead, put in jails and “camps” as he focuses on a story coming out of Nigeria that says that gays will face the death sentence. Again for the millionth time, I have never advocated violence, death or any such thing to come to homosexuals. My desire is that homosexuals, like Joe, are set free from their life of sin, so that they do not spend an eternity in hell. But see, Joe says he doesn’t believe in God and so that’s why he’s okay with what he does. He finds no problem in continuing to lie and slander people like me, Peter, Stephen or Focus on the Family. Which is very very sad isn’t it.

I never cease to be amazed at the hatred and the vitriol directed at gays and lesbians by Right-wing Evangelical zealots. No, they may not be openly advocating violence toward these folks (who mostly just want to treated like human beings and left alone to live their lives as they choose), but they also wouldn’t mind if these unrepentant sodomites happened to be wiped from the face of the Earth.

The latest troll I’ve run across is Stacy Harp, the President of Active Christian Media. Like so many intoleran uber-Christian zealots, Harp seems to think the gays and lesbians, who generally only want the same rights heterosexuals enjoy, are a clear and present danger to good, God-fearing Americans everywhere. OHMIGOD…THE HOMOSEXUAL AGENDA!!! RUN!!! This “agenda” is by and large the desire to be left alone and to enjoy the same rights that every other Americans enjoy. To maintain the hatred and discrimination, Harp and those whose minds drain down the same gutter will invent all manner of lies and propagands in their never-ending quest to demonize a portion of the American population that just wants to live and let live.

Since when are hatred and bigotry Christian values? I may be a Sunday School dropout, but I don’t recalls hatred of homosexuals being one of the 10 Commandments. You don’t have to agree with or even condone homosexuality, but all that really means is that you don’t have to live that lifestyle. This is still America, where the freedom to live as one chooses is still a right. Advocating abject, militant hatred in the name of Jesus Christ only serves to emphasize how little you actually know and understand of Christ’s teachings.

Harp may not be advocating violence against homosexuals. Then again, it’s clear that violent repression and extermination wouldn’t necessarily meet with Harp’s disapproval, either.

When ignorant, hateful troglodytes like Stacy Harp can paint themselves as the voice of true Christianity, it’s not difficult to understand how and why a perfectly good religion has been bastardized into something almost unrecognizable. If Stacy Harp is following the teachings of Jesus Christ, then I’m the Queen of England.
