Yeah, I know; looking this good probably should be illegal

Underdressed Passenger or Overreacting Airline?: Young Woman’s Outfit Raises Eyebrows, Ire of Southwest Flight Attendant

MY NEW HERO #85: Kyla Ebbert

Her outfit aboard a Southwest Airlines plane two months ago first earned her a flight attendant’s reprimand and now has sparked a decency debate that may result in a lawsuit. Kyla Ebbert, a blond, shapely 23-year-old San Diego coed who also works shifts at a Hooters restaurant, boarded the flight to Tucson, Ariz., on a one-day round-trip visit to an Arizona doctor’s appointment. She had settled into her seat when a flight attendant confronted her about what was later described by the airline as “revealing attire.” Ebbert’s so-called objectionable attire included a white, tight-fitting shirt, a green cropped sweater, and a white denim skirt cut high on her thighs.

It would seem that, when it comes to American airlines, not only is common sense and simple human decency to be treated like so much excess baggage, we’ve reached the point where this sort of lunacy barely raises an eyebrow. Personally, I think the flight attendant was just jealous. After all, here was a curvaceous, drop-dead gorgeous young blonde who probably looks better than the flight attendant ever even dreamed of. Who can blame her for wanting to spend the whole flight looking at someone who by comparisons accentuates her own troll-like, self-perceived inadequacies?

We apparently have reached the point where not only are flight crews responsible for the safety of the American flying public; no, they are now also the ultimate arbiters or airborne morality , fashion do’s and don’ts, and self-expression. If someone doesn’t like what you’re wearing, what you’re doing, or the God you happen to be praying to before your flight leaves the ground, you can be refused the right to board a plane you’ve purchased a ticket for. It has NOTHING to do with any perceived degree of security risk that you may or may not pose, but Heaven forbid that you should OFFEND anyone’s sensibilities, because flight crews are more than happy to pander to some joyless soul’s highly-strung sensibilities. Instead of working to ensuring the safety and security of the flying public, which should without a doubt be Job One for flight crews, too many of these judgemental trolls are busy pandering to the lowest common denominator…which all too often happens to be their own narrow intolerance and bigotry.

Rest assured that none of the 9.11 hijackers looked as good as Kyla Ebbert. Ms. Ebbert’s only real crime was perhaps in dressing in a manner that highlights her…um…assets (And do you REALLY think she could high a bomb or a weapon under something that form-fitting??). Does flying while looking like a Hooters Girl (she actually is one) really disqualify a drop-dead gorgeous young woman from boarding a Southwest Airlines flight? Perhaps the flight attendant would prefer that Ms. Ebbert boarded her flight in a burqa?? That she succeeded in “offending” one joyless, intolerant flight attendant should hardly qualify her as a threat to the flying public or their apparently highly vulnerable and fungible virtue. And is it just me…or does Southwest Airlines seem to be making a career out of this sort of ignorant, intolerant silliness??

Um…Kyla?? Hugh Hefner’s on Line 1…. 14:59…14:58…14:57….
