FRANKFURT, Germany — A T-shirt using a yellow Star of David to liken the treatment of smokers in Germany to that of Jews during Nazi rule has angered German Jews. Earlier this week, after several German states introduced sweeping bans on smoking in restaurants and bars, an events planner called DMP started offering the T-shirt for sale on its Web site. Jewish groups responded with outrage. The operator of the Web site said on Friday that he had not sold any of the shirts and that it was a publicity stunt gone awry.
Man, this is about as funny as walking into an NAACP convention wearing a white hood, ain’t it? You’d think that in Germany, of all places, this sort of thing wouldn’t- indeed, COULDN’T- happen. Yet here you have a closet DUMB@$$ offending an entire class of people with his tasteless attempt at trying to compare not being able to smoke in public areas with the murder of six million Jews. Nice try….
Ah, yes…Germany. You remember Germany, right? Home of the Holocaust, six million murdered Jews, continental Europe laid to waste by WWII? Yeah, THAT Germany. Well, it would seem that too many Germans- and certainly Dennis Kramer- have forgotten their history. Of course, now that he’s been busted for his tasteless, moronic attempt at political protest, even Kramer had to admit that he’s a DUMB@$$. Yes, he most certainly is.
Then again, Kramer’s been granted his 15 minutes of fame…and for all the wrong reasons. So much for learning the lessons of history….
