Mistake? Fox News Identifies McCain As A Democrat
Fox News identified John McCain as a Democrat in the chyron yesterday, forcing us to question just whether this was an “error.” McCain is anything but a Reagan figure among the right wing ‚Äö√Ñ√Æ booed at CPAC, hated by conservative pundits, seen as more liberal than Hillary Clinton (according to Ann Coulter) ‚Äö√Ñ√Æ and, given Roger Ailes’ propensity for propaganda, we honestly have to wonder whether any Fox News mistake is a “mistake.”
If anyone can claim with a straight face that this was merely an “error” by Fox News Channel, you might want to consider whether it might be time to go into rehab to deal with your reality impairment. The oops! moment, branding Sen. John McCain as a Democrat was likely no more of a mistake than the lengths to which FNC talking heads go to in order to paint Sen. Hillary Clinton as Satan Incarnate. Sorry, y’all…but if this was a mistake, I’m the Queen of England.
With FNC’s ratings (and political relevance) in decline, it seems that perhaps Roger Ailes and his merry band of knuckle-draggers might be growing just a tad bit desperate. It’s no secret that McCain is not exactly the objet d’amour of the Conservative movement, but impugning the GOP’s likely standard-bearer seems a bit on the self-destructive side, don’t you think? Or perhaps these knuckleheads really DO care more about ideological purity than winning in November?
