Talk about sucking the air out of the room....

Watching last night’s Clinton-Obama debate in Ohio, I could barely contain my desire to scream at the television- not at the candidates, but at Tim Russert. Jeebus, what an egomaniacal (&^%$#@ idiot. Between the “gotcha” questions and his attempts to pin the candidates down on things that really don’t matter, the debate really wasn’t about Clinton or Obama. It was all about Russert. And his ability to ask stupid, pointless questions while forcibly inserting his ego into the conversation. And what was that whole Lewis Farrakhan thing about? Yeah, Russert could have been talking about issues, but it was appartent that he was too busy playing “gotcha” and trying to paint candidates into a corner.

HIllary Clinton badly needed something resembling a knockout blow, something that could generate some heat and/or controversy…and she didn’t get it. Being that this was the last scheduled Democratic debate, Clinton may finally be out of bullets. It’s going to be interesting to see what the next few days hold for the campaigns, but it’s difficult to imagine that last night’s debate is going to swing many people to Clinton. If the Texas and Ohio primaries were to be held today, there’s a good chance hat Clinton might at least carry Ohio. As time goes by, though, it appears that her support is crumbling and moving to Obama. There’s a very good chance that we may be talking about Obama winning all four March 4th primaries, which would make 15 states in a row. If Sen. Clinton doesn’t recognized the handwriting on the wall at that point, I don’t know what it’s going to take.

Once again, Sen. Obama looked poised, confident, and in control. He appeared to take everything that was thrown at him in stride, and he intelligently and rationally answered the questions that were posed to him. Let’s face it, y’all…the man is GOOD- and it’s not all flash. If the worst thing you can come up with as a criticism is that he’s erudite and very well-spoken…well, you got nuthin’. We may well be talking about our next President here; Hillary Clinton is fading fast and John McCain has no shot- short of Sen. Obama being caught tapping his toes in an airport men’s room.

Say goodnight, Hillary….
