Clinton says she ‘misspoke’ about sniper fire
Last week, Sen. Hillary Clinton described her 1996 visit to Tuzla, Bosnia in vivid detail, making if sound as if she and her party had come under direct fire in a combat zone. That’s got to be a harrowing memory to live with, except for one thing- IT NEVER HAPPENED. I’ve lived and worked in three different war zones, and I’m here to tell you that those memories stick with you. Coming under direct fire (which, thankfully, never happened to me) is not the sort of memory that’s going to go fuzzy on you.
It’s not as if Sen. Clinton forgot or mixed up a few details surrounding her landing in Tuzla. She made the whole thing up out of whole cloth. She did forget, however, that CBS News was along for the trip, which means that there’s video to disprove Clinton’s imagination. Now she’s being embarrassed and ridiculed (and rightly so) for being a liar and being willing to inflate her own “experience”.
There are a lot of people who won’t say this, so I will- Sen. Hillary Clinton is a liar. She did not “misspeak”. No amount of verbal gymnastic and desperate spinning will mitigate the reality that Sen. Clinton lied in an effort to convince voters of her “experience”. I don’t know what she was thinking- or IF she was thinking- when she described her trip to Tuzla in such dramatic and heroic terms. As a veteran politician, though, she surely recognizes and understands one of the biggest realities of the Internet age- that your assertions MUST match the video. That Sen. Clinton’s heroic imagination and willingness to inflate her “experience” doesn’t match the video evidence can only mean one thing- Sen. Clinton is a liar. As much as I hate to say that, there’s no way I can avoid that conclusion…because she’s certainly not stupid.
Say goodbye, Sen. Clinton. It’s time for you to go.

After weeks of arduous negotiations, on April 6, 2006, a bipartisan group of senators burst out of the "President's Room," just off the Senate chamber, with a deal on new immigration policy.
As the half-dozen senators -- including John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.) -- headed to announce their plan, they met Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), who made a request common when Capitol Hill news conferences are in the offing: "Hey, guys, can I come along?" And when Obama went before the microphones, he was generous with his list of senators to congratulate -- a list that included himself.
"I want to cite Lindsey Graham, Sam Brownback, Mel Martinez, Ken Salazar, myself, Dick Durbin, Joe Lieberman . . . who've actually had to wake up early to try to hammer this stuff out," he said.
To Senate staff members, who had been arriving for 7 a.m. negotiating sessions for weeks, it was a galling moment. Those morning sessions had attracted just three to four senators a side, Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) recalled, each deeply involved in the issue. Obama was not one of them.

Shame on you for this article! Hillary Clinton is incapable of lying. She's a model of honesty and virtue. If the film of Tuzla shows her landing in peace and being greeted indoors, it is the film that has it wrong, not Mrs. Clinton.
Now Hillary however has a real credibility problem with her "misstatements" and botched recollections concerning her experience and resume...and rather than sticking to addressing her OWN mistakes there, her camp is circulating a memo of what they feel are Obama's equally "mistaken" claims in his experience/resume. Hillary, dear, that is a very childish response. Reminds one of when we were all kids and got caught doing something bad and then would try to dilute the blame by pointing out siblings' equally naughty mistakes from the past.

Don't the Clintons deserve each other? Too bad that Gen. McPeak beat me to it: several weeks ago I said to someone that the Clintons really seem to be a shade of JoeMcCarthy reincarnated -- masters of innuendo & smear. McPeak is right on the mark in his description of Bill Clinton's comment last week when, speaking of a Hillary vs. McClain presidential campaign in the fall, he stated: "it would be a great thing if we had an election year where you had two people who loved this country and were devoted to the interest of this country".
Give it up, Hillary supporters, and just recognize that the candidate you think is so wonderful is, in fact, a liar, a cheat, unethical, amoral...and shameless in her tactics to win a nomination at any cost (not the least of which is the preservation of the Democratic party). It's all about her, it's certainly NOT all about you...so what does it take for you to recognize that? Would I like to see a woman as President? Absolutely! Would I vote for this woman as President? Perhaps if you held a loaded gun to my head...but even then, I would have to give it serious consideration! I would like to see a President who brings honor to our country, not a snake who should slither off into the grass along with her dishonest husband.

I have been under fire in a very hostile war zone. Viet Nam. What you people call lies we called war stories. They got better and better with each telling. They are not lies though and it just sounds better when embelished a bit. I think there is enough wrong on all political sides to go around. Why not leave it alone and get on with the election. I tend to suspect that a few comments on this thread came from republicans that would prefer a post nomination swift boating of Hillary, rather than Obama, and are swift boating Obama now in an effort to achieve that goal.

Some of the justifications of Hillary's socalled "misspeak" are borderline assinine. Now listen, part of a politicians credo is to embellish the truth, you'd be ignorant not to think so. But don't piss on my head, and then tell me it's raining. Hillary has described this Bosnia trip in great detail numerous times on this campaign, and every time in vivid imaginative detail I might add, and she didn't "misspeak" she LIED! It speaks to her credibility, it speaks of her ruthlessness to secure this presidency. And now after a week of being asked about Rev. Wright, and doing the right thing and not passing judgement and once again practicing bad politics, and refraining from commenting on the controversy. Today she comments, only to draw attention away from her trail of lies, to once again put race at the forefront of this politcal campaign. It's funny how everyone and their mother can sum up a 20 year relationship from a few statements run on a continuous loop, and not look at the whole picture. That politicians from every ilk, past and present have associated with individuals from the unsavoury to downright despicable, that Senator Obama has cleary disavowed this man's statements and insinuations numerous times, that his speech on race put this issue to bed, that this REV.Wright's sermons have NOTHING to do with the issues that affect all Americans. I've heard religious kooks from Pat Robertson, Jerry Fallwell, and Pastor Haggee(who Senator Mccain has openly seeked an endorsement from), say things that were hateful, unamerican, and downright stupid, are we to write off every politician that has associated with these men?
The sad thing is, as a black man, I don't expect Obama to win this presidency, and it's a shame that the issue of "race", which he has clearly avoided with his campaign of coalition and unity, will ultimately be his downfall.
