The gift that just keeps on giving...and giving...and giving....

One of the few television shows I watch with any regularity these days is MSNBC's "Countdown" featuring Keith Olbermann. I find myself drawn to Olbermann's musings both for their righteous anger and spot-on intellectual honesty. Unlike any other television pundit, Olbermann somehow manages to give voice to the anger and disillusionment I find myself dealing with so much these days. In a world where ignorance, self-interest, and intellectual/moral/ideological dishonesty is the rule, Olbermann excels at calling bull$#!t on Right-wing blowhards (and occasionally some on the Left) convinced of their own moral superiority and unassailable rectitude. While it's true that self-righteousness and rampant ignorance respects no ideological boundary, Olbermann makes his living off the reality that so much of it can be found on the right side of the spectrum. It's the gift that just keeps on giving, no?

This classic Olbermann rant skewered Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © for his awkward and fallacious attempt to lay blame for this country's economic problems at the doorstep of Congressional Democrats. No matter how much he might want to ignore reality, if there's blame to be apportioned, the buck ought to stop at his desk. Perhaps if he and his fellow neoConservative thugs had devoted more attention to propping up Main Street instead of Wall Street, our economy wouldn't be the complete clusterf--k it currently is. Then again, when you spent eight years raiding the cookie jar to benefit your already-wealthy benefactors, you've got to expect that the bills are going to come due at some point. Yeah, welcome to some point, eh?

Still glad you voted Republican? Don't you wish everyone would??

Keith Olbermann taking on the Intellectual Black Hole in Chief © hardly seems like news anymore. It's no longer a matter of when, but how and over what. I do have to feel for Olbermann, though. You almost have to wonder if he's going to know what to do with himself after 1.20.09. At the very least, he's going to have to look much harder for material. After all these years of having usable material delivered to him gift-wrapped, I fear he may have forgotten what to do once his gravy train heads off into the sunset.

(In a related, but no less disturbing note, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) admits to the reality of what so many of us have long since recognized- that The Decider © is a (&^%$#@ moron. NEWS FLASH!! Thanks, Chuck...next you'll be telling us that you can get HIV/AIDS from doorknobs and toilet seats. CAPTAIN OBVIOUS, PLEASE PICK UP THE WHITE PAGING PHONE....)

Congratulations, America; you ignorance, unwillingness to pay attention, inability to recognize reality, and willingness to be thoroughly propagandized has led us to this place. Yes, The Worst President EVER © may be guilty of gross incompetence and stunning ignorance, but he would be been in that position in the first place if a majority of y'all hadn't voted for him (in most cases against your own interests)- TWICE. When you start pissing and moaning about the state of this country, you might just want to take a good long look in the mirror.

NOW CAN WE IMPEACH THE LYING BASTARD??

Too bad we'd rather pay the price in blood and treasure was the previous entry in this blog.

Too bad you couldn't have been bothered to come to that realization prior to voting for him...twice is the next entry in this blog.
