Better to be thought a fool than to be Ralph Nader and remove any lingering doubt

THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD

(apologies to Keith Olbermann)

Ralph Nader

Independent Presidential Candidate Ralph Nader claimed that liberals and Democrats who will vote for Sen. Barack Obama as the "least worst candidate" are actually trapped in "political slavery.".... At the campaign stop in Austin, Texas, Nader spoke to an audience of approximately 200 about his campaign's primary issues in the 2008 presidential election. During the press conference -- held in a sweltering classroom at the back of a small, suburban Methodist church -- Nader also directly addressed an elderly white woman as a "political bigot."

I'm not a professional political consultant, but even I understand that winning votes and convincing skeptics to support you normally doesn't involve insulting attendees at political rallies and referring to them as "political bigots". Then again, we're talking about Ralph Nader, whose political star (and my esteem for him) has never been lower.

As a crusader for the rights of consumers, Nader occupies a pantheon few others can claim to share. He could have stuck to what he does well and thereby ensured that he'd be remembered in glowing terms for the good and amazingly selfless work he's done on behalf of everyday Americans. Then he got it into his head that he could be a pretty good President, and...well, you know the story. He helped to hand the 2000 election to Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader ©, and now he's running again, presenting himself as the One True, Honest Man in this horse race. Yeah, right; he's become a monument to his own boundless, outsized ego. Jeebus, what a (&^%$#@ maroon.

There was a time, perhaps a two- or three-day stretch in 2000, when Ralph Nader actually presented a fresh and appealing alternative to politics as usual. Then he sucked enough votes from Al Gore in order to make the Florida clusterf--k moral than just a historical hiccup and into something that has led us to where we are today- 4100+ dead Americans, an illegal and immoral war, and a national debt that truly defies rational comprehension. One could make the argument that the excesses of the past eight years could (and probably should) be laid directly at Nader's feet...not that he would ever deign to accept responsibility for unwittingly helping to install The Worst President EVER ©.

"What is your answer to people, including myself, who believe that the votes you get will take away from the Democratic party and ensure McCain wins?" asked the woman during Nader's Q&A with the press. "People who say that a vote for you is a vote for McCain."

Nader grew tense, and his response to the woman was abrupt. "Madam, do you think I'm a second-class citizen?" he asked.

"I'd like for you to answer my question," said the woman.

"No, because that question implies that somehow I am less equal in running for election than two crooked politicians in Washington," he said. "You are a political bigot, wittingly or unwittingly."

And you, Mr. Nader, are a (&^%$#@ moron, and egomaniac of the first order, and primarily responsible for swinging the balance that helped produced the immoral clusterf--k that has characterized the past eight years. No, you didn't personally hand the election to The Decider ©, but by remaining in the 2000 race instead of bowing out and endorsing Al Gore, you have the blood of American soldiers on your hands.

Sadly, it would seemed that Nader has learned nothing from his experience. In fact, if anything, his arrogance and cluelessness are even more pronounced now. How else could you explain trying to woo voters by referring to them as "political bigots"?

Jeebus, what a (&^%$#@ maroon....
